LCD non-HD Monitor for Gaming?

Would an old monitor I have work well for gaming if on DVI? I know DVI is very similar to HDMI because it gives off a digital signal but will it play games on 60fps? I have an R9 270 GPu and I plan to use DVI. I don't plan on buying a monitor until I have a job. Would this be a great monitor for a year or 2? I want to make great use of it since it hasn't been used for 4 years but still works.

The monitor is HD, actually. 720p is the minimum for HD, 1080p is the standard. That monitor is 1050p. 

 

IMO it's a good monitor for the time being. I'm also using a monitor at that resolution (Dell E228WFP).

You won't notice a difference between the picture of DVI VS HDMI on most screens, if not all.

Yes. And technically it is 4k.

Yea it's still HD but unfortunetely 900p is peasant resolution

 

But still, it'll last you until you get another monitor.

900p may be peasantry, but at least it's a clear image on native screens, not bring blurred on a 1080p screen.

His 270x will smash 1600x900p also

1600x900p isn't even that bad... on the eyes VS the monitor size.

^Depends how far away you are from the panel too.

 

It's the 1280x800/1440x900 or lower that suck the big one for image quality losses.

Besides, you'll get some performance boost for the lower pixel count. 

 

Still good for the size though.
