HALP! First time getting high-end computer.. What to do!?

Hello, I have saved up 2,500.00 to buy my first top end gaming computer and want to reach ultra graphics 1080p and 144 FPS on most if not all decently optimized games..

I was thinking 2 970 sli, i7 4790k 4.0 to 4.4 turbo, SSD, and 8gb ram.. What do you think?

* help would be appreciated.

** realistically i would like to see 120+ fps at all times if possible.

That seems fairly realistic at that price point? Mind sharing your region? (US, UK, Etc..)

GTX 980 SLI is better but 295X has more usable memory (8gb) I think, which is better for 4k. (I think)

When you don't add in rebates, and add in system fans and possibly shipping, this will hit around $2,500, as you will NOT be using this many different retailers anyway, you for sure should be able to fit 16 GB of ram, no reason not to at this price point, along with 4GB Storage on HDD, and 256 GB on SSD. You can for sure down grade the MB to a ASUS Z97 if you don't want this high end board which is extremely un neccisiary, but if you want to pay for it then sure.

295x2 for sure, maybe 980. Would not touch a 970 at this price point due to the memory.

I use the 2013 (MX-keyed) BlackWidow and a 2013 Deathadder and love em. Quality has gone to shit with their keybaord keys but the mice are still great, IMO. But perif's are a personal selection :)

Well mice I haven't heard much about but keyboards indeed.

Then again, I love Corsair KB's only.

On SLI the memory isn't double by the use of two cards due to having to having to have the same available resources across the cards so it would still be 4GB VRAM limit or what ever a single card in the SLI has.

The talk seems to have moved away from the 970gtx but I thought this video would be useful about it from Linus:

Personally I'd avoid the 970gtx

What Dada linked basically, just I would try to get another 980 in there and remove the monitor (but that will make the price 2640 or so, so too much)

Looking at my other post I realized I didn't even budget around $2500, only $2700 and $1850.

Heres a z97 system, with dual 980s, keyboard and mouse included.

Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($228.98 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 980 4GB STRIX Video Card (2-Way SLI)  ($544.99 @ SuperBiiz)

You shouldn't be really needing x99 unless you will be doing some instense photo/video editing or etc. For gaming, z97 should be fine.

Intel i5-6600k (Cooled by a 212 evo) - Asus Z170-A - Asus Dual OC GTX 1060 - NZXT S340 - WD 1TB (Getting SSD this month, hopefully) - 8GB DDR4-2400

LG G4 - Asus Zenwatch 2
