Water proofing cases?

meritmaster

I'm typically worried about getting liquid in my PC, and somewhat nervous whenever i have liquids near my computer, but this partially due to how we all need air to cool our rigs, so there will be an intake fan and a out take fan in most computers, these can be dangerous to a computer, as liquid can sucked into the intake fan, and distributed all around the case, thus destroying my computer. I'm basically just seeking a way to make sure this can never happen, or ask if i'm being over worried about the situation at hand.

Any suggestions?

Here's my case, and on the side is a giant intake fan. If i were or my friends/family were to by accident hit the soda towards the intake fan (by accident) would it effectively ruin my computer?

i dont think computer fans are powerful enough to suck in liquid without it being poured in but some noctua fans are protective against water being poured also

I personally would be more worried about the tower falling over from where it is.

Water being siphoned into the case, I wouldn't worry about it unless you are having super soaker battles in that room. (Don't do that)

That being said if you are still worried you could put a screen "cage" around it... not the most elegant solution, but it'd work to prevent drops of liquid.

(It wouldn't stop a deluge, so be warned.)

The only true solution is being careful though.

computer fans will not suck up any liquid unless the liquid is poured directly onto the fan or you are using a 3000+rpm fan

This.

That said, there was a dust proof/water resistant case Silverstone never released using an inch thick dust filter and anti spill guard's
