[Project log] white99 [2k16 Edition] - Corsair 540, ASUS x99, GTX 970, 16gb KLEVV CRAS

50mm

System is not only running, it is finally finished! :)

Buuuuuuut, no final pics today, sorry :P

Therefor i have something else for you..

Since some people asked me how i build the sLights i'm just going to make a quick tutorial.
It's nothing special but i think it will help to understand how i did it.

At first you need some acrylic sheets.
i used these:

PLEXIGLAS® LED (truLED) Weiss WH14 GT 3mm

PLEXIGLAS® LED (EndLighten T) Farblos 0E012 XL 8mm

NfSiCIH.jpg

In this guide i only show the top sLight where the tubing will go through.

This is the cover for the sLight. It will hold the sheets and LED in its position.

ALzpwq1.jpg

I measured where the tubes will go through the sheet and drilled holes into it.

If you want a clean one like my bottom sLight just ignore this part.

An important step is to sand the edges and polish them.

Otherwise the edges will be very bright since the light refracts at the rough surface.

Now it's time to cut the LED stripes and solder cables to it.

B0Y7TcI.jpg

I use LED stripes on both long sides of the sLight .

If you want you can put them on every side or only on one.

Then i put paper on the back of it to reflect the light.

You can use different things like another sheet of acrylic or a mirror etc.

To prevent light coming out of the side and the edges i used black car wrapping foil.

Sleeved the cables and connected them to a 4 pin molex (12v).

And this is what it looks like when it's finished!
The edges are very bright in the photo but it's not that noticable with your bare eyes. Only the holes where the tubing goes through are very bright which looks awesome.
I hope this will help you when building your own one. Many people make a checked pattern into the thicker sheet to refract the light smooth but i think the EndLighten T does a great job.

I'm going to check everything tomorrow and if everything wents good you'll get your final pics this weekend! :)

Stay tuned!
