GTX 970 HOF

So I'm looking into buying a new graphics card. I'm planning on waiting to compare the R9 300 series to the 970s. BUT my question is this.

If I decide on a 970, Is the Galax HOF 970 worth it. I was originally looking at the G1 Gaming, but the Galax seems to out preform it AND it perfectly matches my case and inside color scheme. Is the premium price worth it or will I be equally satisfied with the G1 Windforce 970?

If you are going to get a HOF it better better a 980. What kind of sense would it make to get the absolute top of the line version of card, that isn't top of the line. The premium you will spend will be better off spent on a higher end card like a 780ti kingpin or 980 kingpin or either one HOF

It looks like the EVGA GTX 970 FTW has the same GPU clock, and only slightly slower boost clock, as well as its 3 inches shorter (2fan). Would that be a better idea?

IMHO yes it's a better choice the FTW card has the upgraded cooler from the GTX980

Also EVGA offer a step up plan and the customer service is top notch so if anything goes wrong down the line you're covered.

If you can find the regular EXOC GTX 970 by GALAX, that would make the most sense. The HOF edition is not worth the extra 100 bucks. The EXOC has a white backplate, which is the main part of the card you will actually be seeing, and that's the part that faces up. If you want, you could take off the cooler of the card, and spray the housing white. Use Linus's guide on how to do so:
