First Build - Any advice welcome

janj

Hi guys,

I am a front-end developer and like to play videogames. I wanted to buy an Imac 5K for my work but am looking to build my own workstation instead. The short story: I want a hackintosh for my work and the possibility to play games at decent fps.

There are more reasons that I want to build an own workstation but I think you guys are not interested in that. Here is my build:

CASE: NZXT H440 115€

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 215€

CPU COOLER: Corsair Hydro Series H60 74€

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Superclocked  569€ (Not sure to go with the 970 or 980. I appreciate to play my games at high settings with decent fps.)

SSD: Crucial SSD MX100, 256GB 96€

HHD: WD 1TB BLUE 45€

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 1600MHz 152€

MOBO: Gigabyte Z97X-UD3H-BK 150€

PSU: Corsair CX750M 89€

TOTAL: 1514€

1500€ is the budget what I had in mind (without monitor).

Get a 4690K, get hyper 212 EVO and that would be it rest of it is solid unless you want to go SLI 970's and get better performance.

Firstly, use auto color.

And give us a link to the store you are buying the parts from ;)

Also, what monitor do you have/use?

Thanks for the quick reactions.

Thanks and I will take care of it ;).

2560 x 1440 is the resolution I am looking for. What is the reason that you guys prefer 970 in dual SLI?

If it's a workstation-

i7 4790k

8 gigs o' ram (if you can - 16)

1 970 at 1440p will be enough, later add another one

I would go with an i7 4790K if you are building a Workstation type pc. Swap the GTX 980 for a GTX 970 and you should still be in budget.
