As expected after the announcement earlier this week, the highly anticipated Civilization: Beyond Earth game is now officially available for Linux and SteamOS.

Aspyr Media has completed their port of Civilization: Beyond Earth to Linux, several weeks after the OS X debut. As of a short time ago today, the Linux version is available on Steam. Right now the game is 40% off on Steam as part of their winter sale.

Depending on the sales direction of windows 10, I might be just taking the plunge and dealing with the lack of games. maybe then i will actually pass college classes lol

Isn't Civ. the same game that already works on the Mac OS X? If so no big woo.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

This is NOT the signature you are looking for.

Good thing they didn't use the people who ported XCOM. I get good framerates at max settings on Windows and around 20 FPS at lowest settings on Linux. -_-

Using proprietary blobs or open source driver?

It was kind of obvious it would be ported to Linux.

It's basically Civ 5 and that's been available for Linux for a while now.

It's the same developer Aspyr that ported both. Their linux team is around 5 people at the moment.

I'm happy about games on both platforms because it means more AAA publishers are starting to see there's a bigger PC gaming market to cater towards, and OpenGL use can only benefit everyone in the end.
