One, it's superb.

Two: at that budget, get a better PSU. Look into a SeaSonic 1000W Platinum to top everything off.

Three: Only extra cable you;ll need is some display cable your monitor might not come with: IE, if you want to use HDMI or Displayport, most monitors do not come with said cables. Mine came with DVI and VGA.

Also, games you'll be playing? It'll play any and all at Ultra settings at 100+ FPS on 1080p so....

Looks like a pretty solid build to me. If you are only going to be gaming, you could also change the cpu to 4690K to save a bit.

switch out the barracuda for a WD Blue. If you only knew how many Barracuda drives I have had to destroy.... HGST (hitachi) are a close second. WD may not perform quite as fast (a few MB/s slower), but they last a really long time.

You don't really need 16GB of ram for gaming.
This also gives you a little more space.

it's fantastic, hell you could even throw in another GPU you in there or upgrade to a 980! I'd just switch out the PSU to a corsair AX something

Follow the topics you create using the "Follow" button in the top right corner!

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

I'm not talking wattage, I'm talking quality. That EVGA PSU isn't awful, but there are better options and at his price range, he has a few.

The RAM is awfully expensive for 8GB and that RM series PSU... dunno how often I have to explain why it isn't a very good PSU....

Everything else here is good though.

just because he can afford a bigger and better psu does not mean that he should buy one. If he is never going to use all of what something like the seasonic you listed has to offer, it is just wasted money at least for z97 that is. There are very few fully modular psu's that can match the value of evga's supernova series.

He should get the best he can get for his money. He can get a better PSU if he spends more. I'm not saying that he is going to use 1000W, because he won't, but he should buy something of high-quality if he can. The Supernova G2 is good if he wants that, but it's the NEX series he should avoid if he wants the best as they use lower quality components.

I mean I personally like the Dominator Platinum but really any 8GB stick or 2x4GB sticks over 1600MHz will work.

The RM series seem fine. I could have gone for a higher wattage hx series but it seemed not needed.

Though I'm not a huge fan of the Phanteks enthoo pro but eh.

There's MUCH more to PSU's than just the wattage. Amps, rails, etc as well as the quality of components inside. The RM series has cheap capacitors which is a no-no for a power supply that expensive.

Otherwise, yeah, some cheaper RAM is probably the better way to go.

Ah I see. Well then @OP as STRMfrmXMN said the RM has cheap capacitors.

@ExtremeR5 I suggest you look into one of these http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-power-supply-220g20750xr

Those are of higher quality than the NEX series of EVGA PSUs. If you want an even better PSU, it doesn't get much better than this, even though you'll never use it to it's full wattage. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/seasonic-power-supply-ss660xp2

The 980 is a bad choice considering how much better Price to Performance SLI 970's have, and having higher RAM Speed has been proven many times to have almost no benefits at all.

I updated some parts earlier today because I removed my personal bias to the Dominator Platinum and also SLI I recall is often in-efficient and you're paying about $111.13 more and since some programs and games don't take advantage of SLI sometimes it almost seems like a waste.

I was a bit slow at updating the post.
