Interesting, Like the cubic style. I really wish Fractal made a cubed version of the Define R4 (Specifically Windowed and Titanium).

Is it possible to hide the DVD drive instead when you close the doors? It looks 3D printed, and I don't want you to restart, but it would look better. But keep up the good work! :D

Not really. I was thinking like the door would cover the DVD drive, not necessarily an extra door. But since that requires more printing, if it's 3D printed, then never mind. It still looks good anyway.

i will design up a flappy door for the dvd rom the one thats in there is just for a mock up. im waiting on a graphics card to arrive so i can finish modelling the intake on the left side now dont laugh but its a sapphire radeon r7 250 thats the only card i could find that was 1 slot wide and $100 and wouldn't be completely useless

a quick update i have finished one door but halfway through the second the worst thing imaginable happened.... I ran out of filament.

post-67911-0-17599800-1417012166_thumb.j

ignore the rough finish i haven't sanded it yet and i have to use support because of its odd shape

the card finally arrived but the cooler sits out way more than i thought it would so i will have to change the design of the left side, it was just going to be a round intake but ill have to incorporate the cards original cooler into the new design as it sits about 6 or 7 mm outside the case

  • 1 month later...

ok so another update all the parts have finished printing

post-67911-0-19302900-1419805184_thumb.j

here ive smoothed it with car body filler

post-67911-0-18646600-1419805194_thumb.j

the case is actually finished and painted now its metallic purple with purple lights and a stainless power button on the front with a glowing blue ring on it, i ended up using tiny little hobby hinges to put the front doors on,one thing that really annoyed me i printed the whole thing in pla plastic and when i was painting it well while it was drying under the scorching australian sun some of the pieces warped so the the final fit wasn't as good as the pre paint test fit grrr,so the computer was actually a gift for my mother and i didn't get any finished pics as it was a rush to get everything done by christmas, I will get a couple of photos later this week when she is over ,im still teaching her how to use it as she has never played a real game only those facebook ones.

I also bought mum a copy of murdered soul suspect and wow that  R7 250 was pretty impressive for $100

I'm thinking of doing the same thing but with aluminium, what programme did you use to get the scale models?

I made the models in 3ds max exported them as an stl file opened them in cura scaled the model up by 25.25x and printed on a flash forge creator pro.Im not sure if that would be much use to you if you want aluminium sheets laser cut though.
