ASUS Strix GTX970 0db mode?

Spev

I'm not really sure what a normal GPU temp is. The feature on the Strix says when it's below 65 C the fans will not spin in low intensive games. This is cool to me as I play a lot of games like League & Dota.

My question is when all other GPUs are running fans 24/7 even on lower temperatures, does this promote the longevity of the card to have the fans on all the time? Or will having fans off with temps lower than 65 C not effect the card at all? Thanks for any input!

I'm also buying my GTX970 tonight! (I hope I don't get coil whine) Currently going to get the Asus Strix 970, sound good? Or should I take a further look at the GIGABYTE or EVGA cards? Thanks for any input! :)

My Strix 970 turns on at 67°C and stays there because it's just that efficient and cool. Regarding longevity of the card i wouldn't worry too much. The card will last you longer than you would want to keep it in your system.

who cares...

Yeah. Having the card at 65C might make it last 15 years instead of 20.

But will you actually be using this card in 15 years? Probably not. So don't worry about it ;)

if youre all after high overclocks and max performance and your case can fit a foot long card the gigabyte g1 is a better choice.

What do you guys think about the EVGA FTW edition? Compared to the Asus Strix? Saw this before I ordered, it's only $30 more than the Strix with some better clock speeds.

I got the MSI twin frozer 4g 970 oc version today and its pretty awesome.... Played some battlefield 4 on 4k using the HDMI 2.0 for about 15-20 minutes and the card reached a maximum tperature of 65 degrees...the fan is very silent too..

Waiting for my other 970 to be delivered next week, so I can enjoy some 4k awesomeness at decent fps.
