980 Strix coil whine and crashes

So a few day ago I finished my build with an ASUS 980 strix, 4690k and 8GB or ram. This morning the GPU started making odd sounds that seem like coil whine to me and it can be heard over the fans I have. But what makes things worse is that after the whine started, I have gotten a few BSOD's and game crashes. (before it was perfectly stable) I have all my drivers, BIOS and Windows updated. I tried to enable V-Sync which made the whine go away on the menu screen but not in game. (I played watch dogs on ultra settings@1080x1024)

What might be the problem here and is it normal for BSOD's and crashes to appear with coil whine like this?

I'll post a video at some point too.

the coil whine is a known problem with the asus gtx 900 series cards and a lot of reviews have stated that the crashing is a first to me .

you should contact asus as they have been known to take the card back and fix the coil whine problem the crashing hopefully will be resolved by this as you may have a bad card

Just contact Asus and tell them to give you a new one.

I think I might be able to get a replacement or refund from the reseller I bought it from.
