I'm getting a high pitched static sound when I'm playing games (Not from inside PC/coil whine)

hahnn

Hello guys , I appreciate the time taken to read this but there's a TLDR version at the end. First of all , yesterday I've discovered a very annoying high pitched static sound whenever I play games and it seems like the higher the fps goes , the higher pitch the static sounds seem to be. Also do note that it has never happened ever since I've gotten this PC from 2012 , but there's a few things i might add that might have caused it.

I've plugged in my Nokia's earphone to the , Audio jack/Mic jack and the line in jack. I'm suspecting it being a cause because it's a 3 pole instead of my HD558 being a 2 pole jack. But the Nokia's earphones don't seem to be supported because it sounded like it's "not plugged" properly sounding half of the music , sorry I have no idea how to explain that.

There's another noticeable thing that I've did , that might have caused it . I've tried fixing my mic audio levels through Audacity app and then it prompted me about there's something wrong on my sound because I've accidentally plugged in the Nokia earphone into the Line in jack  , but was quickly fixed by just plugging it into to either Mic or Audio jack or was it because I tweaked a few things too namely "Windows Direct Sound , MME , Primary Sound Driver". Also those are just what I think MIGHT have caused it however I still think it's just an app(Audacity) specific settings , shouldn't have affected my whole system I guess. Which also reminded me to fix my stereo mix settings , which i did.

Oh yes , the first time I've noticed this was because I had nothing to do and loaded up a game which somehow renders the loading screen at 3000fps and then I heard the high pitched screeching sound which is gone after the loading finishes and went back down to about 90-80fps in game. I'm sure the static sound is still there just not as noticeable because of the low fps and the in game sound covering it. Also , quitting the game on desktop I can somehow still hear the sound , I am sure my ears weren't playing tricks on me , because the sound is very distinctive but I think i might have fixed the desktop noises by adjusting a few stuffs in Sound settings and plugging in my Nokia earphones and test some stuffs and somehow its gone or... It's still there that I cannot notice it , sigh...

One last thing to mention is that , CSGO is the game I tried EVERYTHING muted and then I can still hear the static sound from my headphones , not coming from inside the PC. And even though it's muted , I tried going into an offline csgo server , and tried shooting at a wall close range , I can definitely hear a very low sound of the gun shooting against the wall with a slight pitched static noise and the game is running at 280fps-300fps , yes it happened when I've muted in game sound and windows sound as well. The weird thing is , I managed to get it recorded through stereo mix using audacity. I'll upload both the picture of the Jacks and the Audio file that is recorded when everything is muted and I was spraying a M4A4 in game close to a wall.

I'll just post the links here since the picture seems a lil too big ,

Audio of M4A4 : https://mega.co.nz/#!uYwQQaRB!-CfVRxMCRVh2SS3W-eypVBm0TM7vmpKWrr2axeKIZhs

I do know that this is an Audiophile section , so the audio you are about to play might annoy the hell outta you which I did. Anyway , do you guys think that the Nokia earphones jack might have caused all these , somehow damaged the Audio jack itself? If there's any opinion do let me know , appreciate it very much. Thank you!

TLDR version : High fps , higher annoying pitched static noise coming from headphones , regardless of what audio peripherals used. Still can be heard even though everything is muted.

Do something for me

If your motherboard has multiple PCIe slot...move your GPU down...like away from the onboard sound...and tell me if that affects it.

muh specs

Gaming and HTPC (reparations)- ASUS 1080, MSI X99A SLI Plus, 5820k- 4.5GHz @ 1.25v, asetek based 360mm AIO, RM 1000x, 16GB memory, 750D with front USB 2.0 replaced with 3.0  ports, 2 250GB 850 EVOs in Raid 0 (why not, only has games on it), some hard drives

Screens- Acer preditor XB241H (1080p, 144Hz Gsync), LG 1080p ultrawide, (all mounted) directly wired to TV in other room

Stuff- k70 with reds, steel series rival, g13, full desk covering mouse mat

All parts black

Workstation(desk)- 3770k, 970 reference, 16GB of some crucial memory, a motherboard of some kind I don't remember, Micomsoft SC-512N1-L/DVI, CM Storm Trooper (It's got a handle, can you handle that?), 240mm Asetek based AIO, Crucial M550 256GB (upgrade soon), some hard drives, disc drives, and hot swap bays

Screens- 3  ASUS VN248H-P IPS 1080p screens mounted on a stand, some old tv on the wall above it.

Stuff- Epicgear defiant (solderless swappable switches), g600, moutned mic and other stuff.

Laptop docking area- 2 1440p korean monitors mounted, one AHVA matte, one samsung PLS gloss (very annoying, yes). Trashy Razer blackwidow chroma...I mean like the J key doesn't click anymore. I got a model M i use on it to, but its time for a new keyboard. Some edgy Utechsmart mouse similar to g600. Hooked to laptop dock for both of my dell precision laptops. (not only docking area)

Shelf- i7-2600 non-k (has vt-d), 380t, some ASUS sandy itx board, intel quad nic. Currently hosts shared files, setting up as pfsense box in VM. Also acts as spare gaming PC with a 580 or whatever someone brings. Hooked into laptop dock area via usb switch

Is that the only way to find out if its because of EMI? It has never happened before though :(

Not the only way, but unless it would be hard to do or it's the only place you can put it, it might tell you something. Also, you have tried plugging it into the back of the case, right?

The reason I'm suggesting to mess with the GPU is it sounds gpu related in some way. If it's dependent on things you do in game and high framerates, than it likely is related

Yes , it has always been plugged into the back. The front doesn't seem to have been plugged in because the guy kinda forgot when they assembled it...

Also I've tried to transfer it to the bottom slot , but it doesnt seem to fit or because of the wires blocking , so i aborted. My mobo is a MSI z77a-g43 , definitely looks like it can fit in but just that the end of the clip thing dont so i'm afraid i might break it or something.

You mean the clip on the PCIe slot to hold it in? Oh it's fine. It's a more traditional style clip. It's just a bit trickery to pull out sometimes.

Well, if you can't move it, try it without the gpu altogether? Just intel integrated GPU?
