Rival is better IMO, but they're both pretty much the same. They both have perfect sensors, so the rest is down to personal preference

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it

Both are great

Personally I think the G502 has more options and more buttons

The rival is still very good if you want a standard mouse arrangement though,

Rival is lighter while the G502 has more extra buttons. Which is more important for you?

I've had the rival for a few months, no complaints here. Can't say for the g502, never used it.

The rival does have the RGB backlight and suits long hands nicely.

The g502 does seem to have a slightly better build quality and also a  better sensor. But it is fairly heavy and the scroll wheel is a little slick. If you have tried the g502 and liked it, i would get it.

another thing to consider is if you haven't tried the Rival, you might not enjoy the ergonomics, the buttons, the feel of it.

You enjoy the feel of the g502, it has the best sensor on the market, the price is ok for you. The only problem is the color of the light (which you can just turn off in the software if it bugs you). I would say, go with what you know you like, accept the 1 minor flaw instead of risking multiple problems with a rival.
