New soundcard to power HD 518s?

Paragrinn

Recently i purchased a pair of Sennheiser HD 518 headphones, and I've been loving them so far. Except they are really quiet. Currently, i have them plugged into the audio passthrough on my Asus VG248QE monitor (which also is very quiet when it comes to it's speaker) The monitor is plugged in to the audio port on my motherboard, would Purchasing a soundcard be a good idea to run these by itself, and would that solve the low volume problem>? If so, which soundcard should I get for 50 bucks or under.

If they are too quiet a sound card would be a good idea, as they have more powerful amps on them over typical onboard sound. However I have to ask what motherboard do you have?

Ryzen 3700x -Evga RTX 2080 Super- Msi x570 Gaming Edge - G.Skill Ripjaws 3600Mhz RAM - EVGA SuperNova G3 750W -500gb 970 Evo - 250Gb Samsung 850 Evo - 250Gb Samsung 840 Evo  - 4Tb WD Blue- NZXT h500 - ROG Swift PG348Q

First thing is don't use the monitor passthrough at all. Plug it straight to the motherboard. Unplug the monitor, if you have to. Second, make sure every setting is good (volume settings, driver installed, etc).

HD518 shouldn't be hard to drive. Even HD650 runs fine when plugged straight to my ipad 3

Try connecting it to your mono if that doesn't work get a separate amp instead

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

My brother has a pair of HD518s and has no issue with onboard, and he is using a really old Gigabyte SKT775 Board.

As others have said, try plugging them in directly to see if that helps.

I really think the Schiit Magni and Modi combo pair nicely with the Sennheiser HD5X8 Series, not a sound card, but in my opinion will sound better than most sound cards.
