AMD GPU Just Won't Start :( - F@H

Hey guys,

So I just started folding today after Luke talking about it on the WAN show. All has been going well except for some reason I can't get my GPU to start. It shows up as "Ready" and I have my Folding Power set to full however it just doesn't want to start.

The GPU in question is a AMD 7950.

Thanks guys!

Doesn't look like it can finish downloading (although my CPU WU downloaded fine).

Any thoughts?

Is your 7950 connected to a monitor? if so then ignore my post, but if not...

I've never done folding, but it sounds like a problem I had with my nvidia card for video editing. My OS would recognize my card but my programs wouldn't, however I fixed it by plugging in a monitor to my nvidia card(while a Radeon card was being used for actually displaying things). I later replaced the monitor for a dummy plug(a dvi to vga adapter with 3 resistors), but for some reason some GPU's cant be used without a monitor.

Hopefully this helps, if not hopefully someone that folds can help :).

it will only run the GPU all the time with it running at full

so if you have it a medium or light it will not run until your computer is at idle

my computer beats all computers in a 1,000 NM radius

Try deleting the gpu slot then re-adding it so it starts over.

Does it get any further on the log? It should either complete or error out.

If just sitting there, you can try deleting the slot, but a failed WU might get stuck.

Try deleting the slot, in the Advanced view, then re-adding it.

If that doesn't work, stop the client:

Go into Start -> All Programs -> FAHClient -> then in there you should see an option to open the data directory. In here there is the "work" folder. In that folder are numbers corresponding to the slots. Go into the one that corresponds to the GPU, and delete everything in there.

Restart client...
