New Zealand VDSL/Fibre BS

Go to solution Solved by Lord Gaben,

For VDSL

It's probably because you are to far away from the exchange as VDSL coverage is less than ADSL because it requires you to be closer to the exchange.

For Fiber Optic

It's because they either have not laid down the fiber optic infrastructure in your area yet, or you are not in the planned coverage area yet, check the chorus UFB coverage map to see if you are in the coverage area.

So here in NZ we have recently been offered VDSL (high speed copper) and Fibre internet plans, almost everywhere has Fibre/VDSl access according to Chorus, they own all of the lines across NZ and they are responsible for laying and maintain them as well.

Every ISP I have checked with says we don't have access to either of these services, so we're stuck with standard ADSL <8mbs

So my question is why don't we have access to these services if they're offering them and they claim we can use them?

Yeah, after about half a mile, you will only receive ADSL speeds anyway.

So even if it's applicable to your area, you may not actually benefit.

Compatible with Windows 95

I live in Auckland, and I have access to VDSL, but it's very inconsistent. Some days I may get 22mbps down, the rest is up to 8mbps

Yeah but this is so typical of NZ to offer these services and not explain why no one can get them... :(

I beg to differ, any representative of an ISP here should be able to explain why.
