Will my 980 drive a 1080p 144hz G-Sync Monitor, If not what should I use?

Hello everyone, exactly what the titles says. Will a single 980 be enough to play the upcoming games (Witcher 3 is one I'm looking at, which should be pretty punishing,) at 144hz? I'm looking at the ASUS's VG248QE with G-sync. But even if it won't push 144 fps, will the 144hz refresh rate make any kind of difference? And will G-sync make a difference? Alot of questions, I know, so thank you in advance

If you're pushing 60FPS in a game, a 144Hz monitor will make absolutely no difference to a 60Hz monitor. The 980 won't be pushing 144FPS at Ultra/Max settings in newer games like AC4, and certainly not Witcher 3, based on how the 2nd one ran.

It will smash it, 90FPS on a G-Sync monitor will look like nice smooth butter. Just remember you can turn down a bit of anti-aliasing and get huge frame bumps

True but anything over 60fps you'll see...and judging the 980's numbers (remember it's only 1080p) I think he'll be fine.

Yeah but why would anyone spend that much money on a graphics card to play at low. Absolute waste.

thats why i said for some reason. I know some people in multiplayer that turns down settings to have better fps
