R9 280x or Console(ps4 or xbone)

GuideMe002

So guys my mom decided to give me a gift. So she said "pick something you want" so i trim down my choices and it goes like this. What will i choose? R9 290 or console?
For info i have a rig right now so i can just plug new graphics card for it if i pick 280x for crossfire.

Any suggestion guys?

Sorry guys it should be another 280x not 290

What are you going to play on the console?

you can maybe get her into buying you a console and a game... than get a SSD with the 290 (or another 280x).

Full System specs of your PC?

NVM - Read your profile.

280x is no slouch, but the 290 will still provide the extra FPS you may be looking for.

Games you likely play the most?

Prefer one over another? Like.. do you prefer couch gaming compared to chair gaming?

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Everyone here will go masterrace ra ra ra! another 280X but if there's a console exclusive you want to play, get a console. the R9 280X kicks ass on it's own.

Oh so 2x 280x is the plan or Single 280x + Console of choice.

Comes down to Exclusives + What friends are playing...... wouldn't it.?

If your mates are all on console, and your not, I'd prob go with that myself (knowing the 280x is still beast with 2xAA or less set in games past present and future)

If their all MustardRace PC users :) then yeah, another 280x will have you BLEED fps, meaning 100fps or more is great, but wasted potential if not using higher resolutions like 1440p+ or 120Hz.

your system specs looks okay, you could just upgrade to a r9 290 or do the cheaper option, get a ssd instead.

I have ssd

If you have a friend not on PC; convert him to pc with a 280x.

You need to convert them from console peasantry instead of join them.

Show them the light of PC gaming!

Let Lord GabeN's words reach their hearts.

You want another 280x for crossfire for Witcher 3, most likely.

just tell your friends with consoles that they should join the master race. Also, tell them that consoles sometimes inexplicably self-destruct into a mangled mess. then when they are not home, take a baseball bat to their consoles and later on tell them "I told you so.

Purchase another 280x then persuade your friends to play on a real gaming machine worthy of achieving 1080p+.
