If you can, I would. If you don't want to wait, it's not the end of the world.

Buy now, the new 3DS it's not dated for us yet, right now is a "maybe 2015". Are you going to wait for almost a year for a maybe? I just bought mine with Pokemon Y and Zelda(Link Between Two Worlds) last week. You'll get your money's worth in less than 4 months with so many games anyways. By the time the New 3DS arrive(IF) you'll have already played a lot of good games including the soon to come SSB.

●CPU: i7-4790K w/H100i ●Mobo: MSI Z97 MPower ●RAM: Corsair 16GB Dominator ●GPU: EVGA ACX SC 780 3GB(X2) ●SSD: 850 Pro 256GB ●Case: 450D ●PSU: AX 860i ●Monitor: Asus PB278Q 1440p

http://bgr.com/2014/08/29/new-nintendo-3ds-release-date/

If we use Pokémon as an example, the west will get the 3ds late January. Whats 4 months to not get an out dated console that won't be able to run the newest games.

So wait until January?

That's what I'm doing. If you see a lot of the features, they cry "Smash Brothers!" like the c-stick and Z-button. While Japan has had it's release date confirmed I wouldn't be surprised if Europe gets it during the holiday period/early January.

I personally don't want to spend £150 on a hand held console that'll be out dated in 4 months.

This is the correct decision. Nintendo is making a mistake by gating their previous buyers from new 3DS games by releasing a model refresh. Vote with your wallet, pick up the old one.

Just don't buy the new models. I usually don't take issue with Nintendo's ideas, but the new 3DS idea makes me sick.

so you are saying that updating the hardware for a 3 year old device is a bad idea? Though i do think if they were going to do this, they should of just made a new device all together and have backwards compatible as well as more noticeable graphical improvements.

Wait for the new 3DS. Buying the current one for full price wouldn't be a smart move. While you wait, you can try to pick up a few used games on the cheap.

That is the dumbest thing I read on here in quite a while. Congrats. That's quite an accomplishment.

I don't really play many games for gameplay anymore honestly. I play most games just for the graphics.

I'm looking into getting my first mobile gaming device ever and I think the 3ds xl is the one for me. I'm not familiar with nintendo's ways and was wondering if you guys could tell me if the new games will get their own versions for the then older 3ds xl when the "new" one comes out? Or will the game library stop to grow? I don't want to get a device that is very close to the end of its life cycle.

Definitely wait. No point getting something that'll be out of date in a few months.

New 3DS has two analog sticks too, which is almost a must for some games.
