Siberia V2s? Should I buy?

rodion.zissou

I'm in the market for a headset. Are these decent? I could wait a couple weeks and buy something for around 200USD, but this looks like a good deal.

Hds have better sound quality, by are open, so sound leaks, and you usually want to be alone, so others don't get annoyed.

Darn, I think closed would be wisest for widest use case. The hd558s look so sexy though, looking in sennheisers site, they jump up pretty darn high in price in the audiophile line after the hd598s and when you get to closed headsets.

Don't let yourself get deluded by expensive pairs of headsets thinking they're good quality. get a proper set of headphones and a modmic.

Ya, that's the plan. I'm mistakenly using "headset" and "headphone" interchangeably. Do you have a good recommendation for closed headphones around ~200USD?

like the other dude said, ATH-M50s are the all-round, all-time favourite on the market, but you could go with some Sennheisers or AKGs...

Don't buy anything like Skullcandys, Boses or Beats, please, on behalf of all of us here at LTT. Get some decent monitors.

I wouldn't get V2's. Build quality is really weak. Mic is decent but broke within year. If you have small ears cups will fit, otherwise they are really tight and feel heavy.

If you already dont have a good set of heaphone, go and get a decent headphone first.

THEN, if you want somehting for convenience, get a headset.

But until then you will have to choose between modmic or desktop/pro mic.

If you use push to talk feature, they are both essentially the same, but desktop/pro mic will sound MUCH~~~~~ better.

If you are going to use voice activation, you will be disappointed in modmic. Unlike so much hype that people have for this, its not that good for this specific use. Any slight bump will activate it, and you sure will a lot as you have two sets of cable dangling from your head.

Don't get the Siberia V2 or V1. Even if you have got a really nice discount on it I still wouldn't recommend it.

I currently have the V1 right now and while the sound quality is not that bad, the build quality is just really cheap.

(granted it's a $60 headset but it's not that different from the more expensive V2 from what i've experienced)

The thing is that, 3 of my friends have the same headset (Siberia V2). All of them started to make buzzing noises, the sound would constantly shift from left to right after only

a year of use and the only way to fix it is that you have to bend the cables connected to the volume controller to temporary fix it.

The mic also broke in all of the 3 units, oops.

Now I have a Superlux HD668b which in my opinion, sounds WAAAAY better than any Siberias I've listened to and it's even almost comparable to the M50s.

AT JUST A BIT LOWER THAN $40

Had my v2 for 3 months. I pulled the mic out and leave it like that because it breaks a lot if u move it often according to other users. Im happy so far. But would get hyperx if it was out at the time of buying v2.

I'm using the HyperX now and it works just fine. Sound quality and build quality are great for the money. But if you want something more proper for music listening, you shouldn't be looking for a headset.

Yes, m50 have bad soundstage as they are quite bassy and closed back.

Sennheisers have good soundstage but are more detailed and less bassy, but you get open back headphones.

good soundstage may be better suitable for gaming, if that's what u want.

edit: didn't read above, u want closed back :)

get either custom one pro's or beyerdynamic dt 770

Sennheiser indeed makes well 'shaped' ear cups that naturally fir your ear in it, unlike a lot of other companies that just makes circle shaped ear cups.

No! They brake often and the mic sucks donkey balls! The sound is alright but nothing special.. I think it's a popular headset only because of all those fan boys :')

Ok I'm learning more from this thread. I also looked over the stickied thread in Audio forum. So I've got a better idea of what to look for. I like quality above everything else, so I'm open to open ear headphones. I guess I'm just concerned about annoying near by persons if I'm really getting down on an album. It sucks closed phones compromise audio quality.
