r7 270x or GTX 750 Ti

XYZAidan

I made a post about this earlier but that post involved a third card and didn't have a ton of detail. On to this post, I will be building a computer for moderate level gaming and 3D design/3D rendering. For 3D stuff I use blender (typically the cycles engine). I also often have to deal with VERY high-poly models and decent high-res rendering. Which of these card will be the most suitable for my purposes? The r7 270x or GTX 750 Ti?

Thanks

I would say 270x is the better choice

270x...

The 270x is like the GTX 760 in terms of performance, the r7 260x is like the GTX 750ti in terms of performance...

I use Blender myself and I would recommend the 750ti because that's the only one of the two that works with cycles. AMD cards don't work with cycles at the moment and AMD isn't really working on it.

whats with people deciding between the gtx770 and r9-290 or the gtx750ti and r9-270x.
either poeple must be really high and cant compare benchmarks or nvidia cards are overpriced or both.

when was the last time someone said "r7-240 vs 780ti"?
fwiw r9-270
oh and the gtx750ti is so weak it shouldnt be called "gtx" its more like a 750gts

Interesting. What do you mean by "AMD cards don't work with cycles"?

At the moment cycles can only use Cuda (which is only avaible for Nvidia), they are working to let opencl work for cycles, but there is a problem with the opencl compiler on AMD's side, they have been working on this for a few months but still it doesn't work, because AMD doesn't fix their opencl compiler. So at the moment you can only nvidia cards for 3D rendering, the viewport works, but you can't use the accelerated rendering. (Which is fantastic!)

These aren't even competitors. The GTX 750 Ti is a notch below the R7 265. R7 265 < R9 270 < R9 270X

If you're going to render so much, why even consider the GTX 750 Ti? When it has CUDA acceleration maybe it will come close to the R9 270X which will be at a disadvantage, when it doesn't it will get absolutely destroyed by the 270X.

Neither. Grab a decent r9 270 like the MSI for 180 bucks and slide over some bars in afterburner and make it a 270x for free.
