What's the advantage of EVGA's "classified" cards?

What is the advantage that the classified version of the 780 has over the regular acx card which is $80 cheaper. And is it worth the extra $80?

The classifieds have a custom PCB which allows better overclocking sometimes.

Custom PCB for better overclocks, higher binned chips and more ocing options.

A fully custom PCB, over engineered VRM, overall a monster of a card.

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

So it's more of an overclocker's card. Would you say its worth the extra $80 though?

Not really. It's more of a nice to have. Also why did you quote me twice?

Do you plan on overclocking with extreme cooling such as water or LN2?

If you want to do some balls to the walls overclocking, it may be worth it to you. Custom overbuilt pcb, dual bios' so you can flash a custom unlocked one on, overvolting via the EVGA pod thing. But it's not worth it unless you want to take advantage of these features. The reference boards with the acx cooler or even the ftw (custom, but less overbuilt pcb, still dual bios, but no overvolting pod thing) may be good for you.

Also, support for overvolting and an EvBot connection.

This card should be really good when watercooled

Its only worth it if you plan on overcocking a lot. If you plan to be a normal person who just overclocks conventionally, its not worth the money in my opinion. Its really built for the crazy over the top exotic cooling folks, or serious watercoolers potentially.

Well i do plan to overclock but on air. No water, Dice or ln2 so you're all saying better to just get the regular acx one then?

so at the same price is the FTW version any better than the SC version?

Id say so. Its a higher binned chip (i think) on a custom pcb. If they are the same price or just a few buck appart, Id go for the ftw. Its what I did with my 780. But do keep in mind, there arent any water blocks for ftw cards. There arent enough sold for it to be worth it for waterblock manufacturers to make them. So for strictly air cooling, Id go ftw.

Overvolting, Huge support for custom BIOS, overbuilt PCB, binned GPUs, voltage check points, dual bios, and an awesome warranty are the things I personally love about it.

Its a **classified** secret on howthey make people buy the overpriced garbage they sell. jk

In all seriousness it's sorta like Asus posiden(or whatevs its called) and MSI's lightning range. Extreme of the extreme ect ect ect.

Basically all the shit you ever need in one card. (except water cooling)
