Silly question

kaylexmorgana

This is silly but last night for the hell of it I wanted to record me getting my ass kicked in bf4 and I used fraps.

5 minutes=22gbs?????

So I get a average of in the mid 40's FPS wise in bf4.

Now I expected a drop in frame rate but it was hitting always under 30 FPS and is unplayable.

And it went so low about 2 FPS that fraps even stopped itself from recording?

Now the questions:

Will it go faster when I get my 2nd 780?

Will shadow play work better?

Also my pc isn't a piece of crap or anything

780 with a 4770k and 16gbs ram

And the silly part is because my sig, think you can figure it out.

Don't use Fraps use Shadowplay,OBS or DXTory Fraps tends to drop frames randomly. If you are using 5760x1080 like your sig suggests don't bother using software to record the footage will be widescreen and look awful.

You should always record to a seperate HDD, or a RAID array (RAID 0) for mechanical HDD's, SSD does not usually cause any slowdowns AFAIK.

This is 5ghz 2500k plus a overclocked to the firey depths of hell GTX 480 recorded to my sig rig RAID-0.

You should be WAY faster.

Use Shadowplay for recording heard it's good, and use a different encoder.

The time you enjoy wasting, is not wasted time.

I think you need fast storage for fraps to get smooth recording. Better use something else like others mentioned.

It was my hdd I think it is failing though and no ssd? I thought that would be much better but I didn't really want to waste the space

And yes a monsterous 5760

yeah fraps does zero compression.... i use it, but i got a whole tb for for it. my rule of thumb is 1 min=500mbs  right now your at 1min=4.5gbs....

change some stuff in fraps:

limit fps to 30

Half-size capture

that should make it be more like 500mbs per min, although there are lots of better options

Just use Shadowplay. There is no reason to use FRAPS ever know. Shadowplay has about a 1fps drop if that and it doesn't take up as much room on your storage device.

alright.

I actually did try and I couldn't get it to work before fraps and I tried again and it refuses to record the symbol always has a X threw it even when I try to record.

Is it the resolution?
