Electromobiles in EU will be making artifical noise

Sorry if repost.

Electromobiles in EU will be making artifical noise for safety reasons of pedestrians. Im not sure what to think about this. On the one side it is benefit for pedestrians but I think silent cars are also good for reducing noise in cities. I personaly would prefer cars silent as possible. I do look left and right to see if there is car going when I want to cross street. Its not like I do it just based on sounds I hear. But I understand if this is in benefit of blind people.

What do you guys think?

That's stupid. It would make more sense if people freaking looked where they're going.

Meh, for now I don`t care because is still full of normal cars but once a Prius almost give a heart attack.

Sounded like it was going really fast, but wasn't even doing 20MPH?

Tires make enough noise imo. If the car barely moves so that you can't hear the tires driver shouldn't hit anyone anyways.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

The sounds should be customizable. Play music or sound effects. I'd make my electric car sound like a massive diesel semi truck

Often when riding in my friend's Prius C, we have random people and cyclist get startled when they finally noticed that there was a car behind/beside them, even with the irritating buzzing sound the Prius C makes.

That's just... Stup... Wha... I don't even...

I know when crossing the streets one should look to left and right every time one crosses a street, but from my experience the sounds are enough to determine whether it's safe to cross or not, and the tires make up for the majority of the sounds (unless the vehicles nearby are sports cars and/or motorbikes, their engines are really loud), though slower the vehicles go, harder it is to hear the tires (and when it get's nearly silent it's too slow to cause safety risks if the drivers are cautious enough). So artificial engine sounds for electric vehicles are completely unnecessary.

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.
