Microsoft owns Gears of war now.

EvilLemur

So Microsoft has acquired gears of war an xbox exclusive title and amazing game.

“Epic Games has reached an agreement to sell the ‘Gears of War’ intellectual property rights to Microsoft.  We’re very proud of the franchise we built in close partnership with Microsoft over the past decade and are happy that this agreement enables Microsoft to forge ahead with the ‘Gears’ universe on their industry-leading platforms as Epic concentrates its efforts on new projects,” said Epic founder and CEO Tim Sweeney. “Epic remains totally dedicated to supporting Xbox One and is licensing the Unreal Engine 4 technology to Microsoft in support of their future projects.”

what do you think microsoft will do? make it amazing or kill it like halo?

Meh. Personally I've always found Gears of War to be a dull and incredibly linear game.

Also, they haven't killed Halo. The franchise has been going downhill a little over the years, but they're still trying to make good games for the most part. Halo 4, in spite of its flaws, had an absolutely fantastic story line and handled the complexity of the situation faced by the Chief and Cortana in a brilliantly mature way. :)

The Xbox 360 did have essentially 256MB of RAM. It had 512MB unified, shared between system and GPU. Most of the time that meant an even split of 256/256.

This is why I really hate Microsoft.

The Gears franchise was amazing ( except for 2 ) and I was really hoping sony users would finally be able enjoy it. Unfortunately, because the game is insanely difficult to get into ( with respect to multiplayer ) , the player base continues to be quite small and within that community none are very accepting of newer players.

Gears is bar none the most skillful multiplayer game ever made.

They probably did a 10 year contract, after that, Epic can go prance around naked and play with it's willie in Sony's office, and Microsoft can't do anything around it.

No, Microsoft BOUGHT the franchise from Epic. There is no contract, MS owns it outright.

Oh. Well, at least we know Gears of War will push the XBone to the limits! :D

Gears is pretty tapped out by now.

In the event of a reboot or a spin-off, Micro$oft needs to bring it to PC.

Saddest part is that judgment was a really shitty game.... hopefully they can return to the old combat style of the previous gears games and make this one a lot better really looking forward to seeing what is going to happen

Microsoft likely realized their game lineup for the xbone was rather cruddy, so they need a new gears game. Too bad a really good (read: unrushed) halo game would be a much better idea.

I like the launch lineup for the Xbox One. I've been playing BF4, Ryse, and FM5 for awhile. I've been wanting to play DR3, but I haven't got it yet. The lineup for the PS4 launch was much worse, IMO. Knack and Killzone aren't really enough to justify the purchase yet. Infamous Second Son is where I would justify buying a PS4.

BTW, if anyone has played the PC version of Gears, it's pretty sweet.

In the hardest difficulty, you can pull off headshots all day long with the laser rifle.
