amp/dac for DT 990

I'm about to pick up a DT 990 pro 250ohm.

I have an Asus xonar dg but I'm guessing that won't cut it so I'm looking at a dac/external amp, the options that stand out are:

fiio e10, $75

fiio e17, $130

o2 + odac, $280

Could anyone give me some insight on what would be the best companion for my dt 990 pro?

If I understand correctly, the dg should cut it. And the high, output impedance shouldn't be too bothersome with 250 ohm headphones.

Those dacs/amps might be a waste for you, but don't quote me on that

You dont need an AMP for the 990's I have used the exact version you are talking about unpowered, but to answer your question, the FiiO E10 will work just fine.

haven't tested it with onboard, but using the 990's with my phone and it didn't sound as good and clear as with an amp, e10

4th option - you can just grab an o2 for $120. As long as you have a decent motherboard you don't need a DAC.

I've got a z77 ud3h. I don't really understand the information under the audio section, will it be fine as a DAC?

Since the dt990 is 250 ohm, the 10 ohm output impedance of the xonar is not a problem so unless your xonar has static or high noise floor, it should be fine. Make sure you plug your headphones into the rear ports though because the front headphone jacks do not get amplified.
