Can I format my boot drive and still have windows on it?

I am putting in old harddrives to a new pc. I dont have a windows copy though. If I format the disk will it still have windows on it?

Formatting erases ALL data on the drive.  That's the definition of format.  You will need to get windows from somewhere.

I guess you could, if you partitioned the drive and just format the remaining part of the drive.
