RAM concerns

Hello guys, it's my first time posting here so your help will be appreciated...

So my concern is, I have a Mobo of Gigabyte Z370M DS3H and I bought an 8GB T-Force RGB RAM 2666 kit (2x 4GB).. and I know that my Mobo can support up to 2666, dual channel and has 4 memory slots... now, I just changed my mind that instead I should have bought the 16GB kit (2x 8GB) for future proof. Sad thing is, I can no longer return the item 'coz it's past 1 week already.

So I'm planning to insert the 2x 4GB to activate dual channel, and... should I add another 2x 4GB kit for memory slot 2/4 or 1/3 to achieve 16GB?... so which is better, buy myself another 2 kit with same memory, speed and brand OR buy an 8GB stick with same speed and brand? Will my mobo allow it? will it not cause any problem?

If I have 4x 4GB but not quad kit, 2x double kit, will it be alright?

Or if Dual channel 2x 4GB + 8GB okay too?

Please advice :(

Go with another 2x4GB kit to give you 4x4GB (16GB). 16GB is more than enough for most use cases, so you most likely won't need to expand beyond 16GB and filling all the slots won't be much of an issue.

Okay, so it's alright if I add another 2x4GB with same brand, speed and memory... but they say it will stress my mobo or cpu or gpu if there will be 4x 4 gb than 2x 8gb? and the voltage etc ?

you say that but I used 13gb on just chrome the other day.... ;)

But yeah, for most people 16 is more than enough. Id argue 12 is more than enough for most.

Buying another 2x4GB kit of the same or similar RAM at the same frequency will result in no issues. As for your slots, having all of them full is perfectly fine as 16GB will be enough for years to come, as most modern (and optimised) games use half of that or slightly more.

If the motherboard has 4 slots it is designed to run 4 sticks. Don't listen to silly people!

You can game with 8GB without any performance decrease - depending on the game. https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/987392-gaming-8gb-vs-16gb-of-ram-tested/

... Bringing Chrome in to this is just unfair :D

Oh I see, I guess it's fine then, I guess I'll just buy another dual kit RAM with same frequency and memory,

sorry but it really worries me for 2 days :(

Even if it's not quad channel? Like 2x dual kit of 8GB (2x 4GB each kit) ?

YES!

Quad channel means you can get 8 sticks, not 4!

Dual channel memory means that two sticks work together in pairs. You can have multiple pairs of dual channel memory.
Quad channel memory works together in sets of 4, and again you can have multiple sets of quad channel memory.

Thanks so much for the help guys, so if in case I have then the 2 kits of 2x4GB = 4 x 4GB all , Which first I will put? Will there be an order? or steps first?

Should I add the first 2 kits in slots 1/3 or 2/4 to activate the dual channel first then later the other 2x 4GB ?

Just fill every slot with the RAM sticks.

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but try to buy the same kit with the same frequency/CAS latency, as the motherboard will set all sticks to the speed of the slowest stick. So in your case another set of the same 2x4GB 2666MHz T-Force RGB RAM would be ideal... Plus it will look better if they're all the same.
