Typing Poll

Please use www.keyhero.com (or another website that randomizes the paragraphs each time) to do a typing test, and answer the poll questions. 

 

Here's my answers to the poll in case you're curious:

- My typing speed is around 95 WPM

- My accuracy is around 97% 

- I am a touch typist

- I spend approximately 2-3 hours on my keyboard on weekdays

- I type on a Logitech G710+ with Cherry MX Brown switches.

True. I thought an average "typist" had a speed of around 70 WPM.

I'm pretty sure the average person is around like 30 WPM, and typists are considered like 50+. I tend to avg around 65-70, about 97% accuracy depending on the text. I checked off touch typing because I do like... 90% of the time, but when there's a lot of symbols in the text I definitely have to cheat lol.

I hate my keyboard for typing though.

It's when you rest your fingers on the ASDF and JKL; keys, and type from there.

Using the site linked in the OP, I show 102.29 WPM and 98.78% accuracy on the one I was doing, with an average of 83.85 WPM and 93.06% accuracy.  I'm a touch typist, I probably spend a few hours a day at the keyboard, and I'm using a Clevo P750DM-G laptop keyboard.

Here's my results:

I type at 103.48 WPM with 98.81% accuracy.

I don't touch type.

I spend about 6-7 hours using my keyboard on weekdays (there is not much else to do where I live).

My keyboard is a Steelseries Apex M500 with Cherry MX Reds.

back in the day I did chat support for eBay - immediately after moving to a different company we had corporate 'games' where everyone could participate in various office-related types of challenge tests. At that time (8 years ago mind you) in a company of ~ 10,000 I was the 2nd fastest person who took the typing test, IIRC speed was 155 wpm with 1% error rate. I never learned to type correctly so I don't use my pinky fingers and both hands wander around the keyboard a bit.

 

The person who beat me was the lead software developer for the company, he also got 155 wpm but made no mistakes during the battery of typing tests. Showoff

I was using the MS Ergo 4000 back then, membrane nonsense. Could probably type faster if they made one with MX blues and i practiced for a while.
