Pc case. Help me....

Hi there.

I'm building a new system. The components are as follows:

Ryzen 7 2700x

16gb ddr4

Aorus x470 gaming 7 WiFi

Zotac gtx 1080 ti amp

480gb ssd.

I'm having a hard time choosing a case that can accommodate a vertical gpu.

The only case i can think of right now is Lian Li pc 011.

Any idea is appreciated.

I'll probably use a CPU AIO water cooler for the CPU.

There's lots of cases that can accommodate a vertical mount GPU, but its whether you should actually USE them or not. Air cooled GPU's often perform worse in Vertical GPU slots because the native mounts put the card right up against the glass where the fans cat pull in air at all! Lian Li PC-O11D is one of the exceptions to the rule because of how it implements it (away from the side panel) as to not choke the fans from pulling in fresh air. Watercolled GPU's dont have this problem, so using them in the vertical orientation does not usually affect their performance.

You could also look into aftermarket solutions from Coolermaster, @CableMod and @Mnpctech who all sell Vertical GPU adapters. Coolermasters's only really applies to their own series of MasterCase's, Cablemod's is fairly universal, and MNPCTech (Bill) makes custom ones to mount basically anywhere in the case, though this usually can leave you pulling out a dremel.

Do note your 1080ti AMP is HUGE (one of the biggest on the market) so be mindful not only of length, but the thickness of the card too. That alone would make it impossible to even fit into normal mounts like the ones found in the NZXT H500, Corsair 275R and Define R6.

Thanks for the info. Almost bought the nzxt and Design R6. In that case (pun not intended), I'll get the Lian li.

Note problem! NOTE that there's pretty much NO case on the market that comes with the PCI-E riser card natively, so you'll need to purchase that separate. Lian Li's also includes the bracket and mounting rails you need. Why aernt these included with the case from the factory? Because not everyone would use them, and it allows them to sell the case at an overall lower cost to those who dont want or need that feature.

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=1B4-02B3-00001 ($50)

https://www.amazon.com/Lian-Li-O11D-1X-Premium-Extender/dp/B07F6TY23V ($60)

There's no difference other than they jsut happen to be different prices right now. I would save the $10 and get it from newegg, even if it means slightly slower free shippping if oyu dont have amazon prime.

@Z3r0link CableMod vertical PCI-E bracket inside the 011-Dynamic for reference. This doesn't allow for installation of the left most fan at the bottom of the case, so do make note of that. You can still put an SSD or LED controller in that position though instead if you'd like, I did test that.

Lovely system. Just what i had in mind... your bottom fans pulls while the top pushes?

@Z3r0link correct - side fans were later swapped to intake/pull as well, was just doing various tests when I took this photo.
