If you're a minor (above 13; below 18), will a driving permit suffice for the requirement of "A FEDERAL OR STATE ISSUED PHOTO ID"? 

 

And can you tell me about your experiences during these type of events? How did it go, the process of getting in, etc. etc.

I forgot that Dreamhack happened other places than Sweden and got confused for a little while when reading this.

Have you been in any convention, concert or sporting event before? If you go without BYOC, its pretty much similar. You have booths for vendors, areas to watch matches, either while they play or with casters. Stuff like that. And then there's BYOC areas.

 

I haven't been in DH, but with local and smaller (2-5.5k visitors) events. AFAIK DH is only bigger but everything else is pretty much same. Don't know if US ones are like that, but I would same we Nordics have kinda same style with LANs.

Well I went yesterday to DHATL18 and everything went smoothly. They didn't even check for an ID/Permit so I guess they're not very strict about it. Thanks for your inputs! @Netivity @LoGiCalDrm @Mihle

They are probably required by law to have that part in. In reality its only checked randomly or if you do something to prompt security.

 

E: I should add that in Europe you not having state/federal issued ID is rarer than what it is in US. You are required to carry one for each border crossing, even inside EU/Shengen while it doesn't need to be passport.
