Bought a used build, what should I upgrade first?

I got it for like 500 bucks pretty solid deal imo, I think I wanna upgrade storage space right now but I'm good on capacity atm. I'm not a super PC enthusiast so prob nothing too maxed out.

I mostly stream Smash Brothers and play light games like smite and shit so I don't need a super powerful rig but I do recognize it's a little dated.

 

Any help with parts I should grab is appreciated :) Thanks!

the only thing I would change is gpu, it is low tier, throw in some 1060 6gb or rx570 and you will be good for couple years

I'd upgrade the GPU first.

GPU since the 960 probably cant push 144 with good settings. Your CPU and RAM are great. 

 

Also, Maybe grab a 2TB or a 4TB.

You did not list the PSU, if it is a cheap unit that would be my suggestions. A cheap PSU that fails can take your other components with it.

No real budget in mind, I'm waiting until my next paycheck and after I pay my bills I'll pretty much be able to sink most of my money into something after all that is said and done. Blanket suggestions are welcomed

Didn't list the PSU because I'm swapping it with a Corsair CX750M

I was running into Kernal 41 errors and BSOD. Friend of mind that's a common error attributed to PSU going bad.

well, depending on your budget you could go with anything from a 1050 ti to a 980 ti to a 2080 (ti). in most games, the 4790k is a great cpu. a big, well cooled gpu is recommended

How does a RX 580 sound? It's only about 300 bucks 8gb, and seems to be a OC edition.

Good good, the CX750M is a decent enough unit. In that case, I'd add a hard drive for more storage, even consider getting just another SSD as they are pretty cheap these days. But I would get a new GPU. What resolution do you plan to game at?

Solid choice, performance is nearly identical to the GTX 1060 6Gb and that will be good for 75FPS+ at 1080p ultra settings.

I have a 1060 6GB, 1080, and 1080Ti, and I'd still buy it lol. But I have a problem so that's besides the issue hahaha
