Yeah, it should cost the same as just getting one large one but will make clean installing faster since you don't need to redownload your games.

It works, but not really worth the money since there's no real usability impact. It's ok to have an unoccupied M.2 slot, I use mine for a boot drive and SATA SSDs for game drives.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

My roommate does that, as he prefers having his OS separate from his gaming drive.

If you have the money go for it, otherwise just get a huge drive.

Don't buy anything until Black Friday; you can get a Samsung 1TB Evo drive for $129, or if you're not in a hurry, possibly a 2TB for the same price a few months later.

No...

Unless you're talking about a couple MBps which is literally impossible to notice, the speeds are practically the same.

 

If you partition it instead of using two separate drives, you can't unplug the other partition while clean installing windows.

Having two drives allows you to unplug all non-OS drives for a proper clean install.

M.2 for OS and main apps/games and SSD for data and everything else is my current move.  970 Pro 1tb and 850 Evo 2tb.

Usually single larger drives are cheaper than multiple smaller drives that add to the same capacity. 2TB SSDs should be dropping in price next year, too.

 

Usually the only reason to get multiple drives for a single high capacity is for redundancy.

I run 4 ssd's per rig. Used to do raid 0 but no gains for me. I have one for os, one for steam and one for EA. Guess I gotta use one for blizzard now. 

Now that I have a mobo that can support m.2, may do that as well too.
