Questions

Go to solution Solved by LukeSavenije,

you have a lot of cloning softwares. I personally went from a hp pavilion to a 860 evo with the samsung software for it. about that mobo, that's about it, I mounted it just the normal way, and it works just fine for me

Hello!

I had a few questions

I'm building a new system soon

And I was wondering the best way

I could transfer all my data and program's/games to it.

And the drive I have right now has hp files in it so ?‍♂️

Anyway. I heard about zinstall but id just like a few opinions.

Next question is,

Is there any benefit to putting your motherboard upside down, or is it only to see your GPU's good looking side.

sorry if this is in the wrong sub

and don't r0ast me kthx have a great day

Do a fresh install of your o/s and you should really try to do fresh install of all the other programs too.

You can place your mobo anyway you want, just keep in mind the airflow.

Its not day its early morning / late late night. People drink to the wee wee hours.

The only reason I asked about transferring is due to the fact I have over 500gbs of programs/games and I wouldn't wanna sit there and do that all day, and I said day as I was expecting to receive a reply by morning. I understand what you're coming by I just don't wanna use my internet like that

Interesting facts you got there. Yeah give that program a try and see, but a fresh install of the o/s is a must! No question about that, but I understand your dilemma, not unique but I havent ran into that situation myself, I'd just start trying a few of the programs and go from there. Its slow in here right now, might pick up in 4 hrs, thats a good game plan ?

Yeah fresh install was my main priority at first and then swap over my license key and start transferring, and alright ?

I was planning on buying a Seagate hdd and a corsair nand ssd later on. As I just want to be able to switch my programs and everything before I spend more money than I want to right now on that bad boy

On putting your motherboard in upside down you can only do this if your case supports it.

Also it should be noted this will likely mean your power supply will need to be mounted at the top of the case which imo makes cable management more of a pain in the ass, if you must go this way absolutely get a modular psu to keep the minimum number of cables needed.

System Specs

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x | Mobo: Gigabyte B550i Aorus Pro AX | RAM: Hyper X Fury 3600 64gb | GPU: Nvidia FE 4090 | Storage: WD Blk SN750 NVMe - 1tb, Samsung 860 Evo - 1tb, WD Blk - 6tb/5tb, WD Red - 10tb | PSU:Corsair ax860 | Cooling: AMD Wraith Stealth  Displays: 55" Samsung 4k Q80R, 24" BenQ XL2420TE/XL2411Z & Asus VG248QE | Kb: K70 RGB Blue | Mouse: Logitech G903 | Case: Fractal Torrent RGB | Extra: HTC Vive, Fanatec CSR/Shifters/CSR Elite Pedals w/ Rennsport stand, Thustmaster Warthog HOTAS, Track IR5,, ARCTIC Z3 Pro Triple Monitor Arm | OS: Win 10 Pro 64 bit

What do you mean with the mobo part? As said, your case needs to support it. Pro with inverted case is that GPU receives better cooling. Or if you look at test benches and thats style, then its about looks. Having mobo completely upside down serves no purpose, and due to gravity, I would say its not even good idea. You can just get PCIe extension cables if you want to have GPU in some other way than just where it would be on mobo.

The absolute best way is to do it manually.

Reinstall everything, and manually move the files you want.

It takes quite a bit of time, but you will end up with no junk files, and proper sector alignment (if you're moving from a HDD to an SSD).

Not sure what you mean.

The orientation of your motherboard is determined by your case. It's not something you choose. It only fits (properly) one way.

I'm moving from hdd to hdd, trust me I would redownload all of it, but i have games that are well over 90gbs and apps well over 40gbs. As I stated above, I would reinstall it but it would take forever
