indeed, Indochina and India should see some increased growth with both regions having untapped potential. they both have major harbours to utilize, perfect to set up decentralized production network.

Also Foxconn is opening a huge plant in the US as a rsult of trade pressures. The tarriffs are working beautifully.

was that plant planned in light of this or 3-7 years earlier? these plants dont pop up on a whim. sorry, i dont have any info on the specifics

i believe indochina is the intire region. tbh a frickin huge country region perfect for decentraliced production and a massive merchant fleet.

also foxconn plant in Wisconsin was planned before 2017, so that was allready in the works before tarrifs. good for Foxconn though that they avoid some of that headache though do glass come under these tarrifs? im kinda out of the picture here, but i dont think they do at all

edit: oh, Indochina is just Siam and that region, i meant to include Indoenesia and most of Oceania. sorry.

edit2: doesnt seem like glass is hit by the tariffs, but glass imports to the US from Canada, mexico and EU are hit by tariffs. that was done in 2017-18. so that also seems unrelated.

Persknally, id rather buy electronics made in Japan or S. Korea than any other Asian countries. The Japanese make the best with Korea close behind.

Though personally id rather there be a full embargo on chinese made stuff like we have with other hostile nations.

The foxconn factory has nothing to do with the tariffs, it was announced in 2017. What does impact it is the 3 billion in tax breaks and subsidies they're getting over the next 15 years.

You know what's easier than buying and building a brand new PC? Petty larceny!
If you're worried about getting caught, here's a trick: Only steal one part at a time. Plenty of people will call the cops because somebody stole their computer -- nobody calls the cops because they're "pretty sure the dirty-bathrobe guy from next door jacked my heat sink."

Trump talked about making it difficult for China before he even got elected. The people who run Foxconn arent stupid(unethical yes). They knew Trump would hit China with tarrifs so obviously they wanted to get ahead of an administration that would be hostile to them.

I mean, we're getting pretty far into ifs at that point. Being tough on China in trade doesn't necessitate tariffs, there were certainly other ways to go about fixing the imbalance, this is just the one that was chosen. Not to mention the announcement being made in 2017 means that it was a significant length of time before that happened that discussions began.

Trade with China and consumers' unethical purchasing practices has undermined the economy for decades now. The tarriffs are long overdue.

The tariffs are closing the barn door after the horse has left and ran two counties away. The time for tariffs was in the early 1990s to stop China from becoming such an economic superpower.

Whatever his administration would do, building a US plant would be a way to get around it. Unlike consumers, businessmen have to be proactive.

He cant go back to the 90s when those horrible trade deals that screwed over the US so badly were made by idiots. He can try to make it right. Tarriffs are a good start.

i mean, its not like Foxconn has any choice in which party to pour campaigning money into. i mean, trump has very little effect in this plant. with a plant being announched in 2017 with location would mean there were allready plans way ahead. a plant was coming regardless of who is president.

honestly though, Foxconn is doing some valuable expancion into India, that is the sector that is more important, but even those plants were a long way coming. good to see them bring  jobs and higher wages into India.

They're idiotic now. Our manufacturing is gone and is never coming back, so now they're just taxes on consumption.

Yes, that has already been exposed as basically just scamming the government. Foxconn will be bringing in Chinese engineers to work at the plant, while getting up to a million dollars per employee from the government.

Just in the US or everywhere to get even more profit elsewhere ?? else i think its time we start doing tariffs of our own here in the EU?

You have had them for a long time. Much of the world has tarriffs on imports. The US has been stupid not to have them.
