400 watt psu good enough?

Carter29

I was wondering if a 400 watt psu would be good enough to use a intel q6600? I’m just trying to get a little more life out of my old computer by upgrading the cpu. My gpu is a gt 710. I’m also planning on upgrading it to at least a gtx 750ti. With all this hardware is my psu still good enough to supply enough power?

Thanks!

Any 80+ rated 400w PSU from a respectable brand should be fine :)

Ok thanks guys

400W is plenty so long it's a quality PSU, I'd say that PC doesn't even pull 250W

Could you stop saying that?

respectable brands don't exist. MOST of them have good and bad products

and for a normal user it's hard to distinguish between "respectable and non-respectable brands" they might think bitfenix is garbage just because they'd never heard it before.

Saying "any 80+ should be fine" is not a good advice either

Exactly, that old PSU tier list is a good example of this. There you can see that common brands can still make awful budget options.

Edit: I do believe choosing from respectable brands in other products but especially with power supplies it can just be a little trickier

You can't expect two psus from the same brand that have very different price points and characteristics to be equally good or recommended so Idk why they keep saying that

Normal people can't differentiate between brands, they will believe whatever that sounds more on the internet is the brand to buy.

It's just better to say "get X or W product from this brand"
