That is an ok temp. I would advise not going much higher for every day usage though. If you would like to go higher I would upgrade your cooler. (side note - I really need one of those chips lol)

Noctua NH-U12S, NH-U14S, Cryrig H7, Be Quiet! Pure Rock, Shadow Rock Slim

There's a bunch out there but those are just a few. You can take a look at some youtube air cooler reviews.

I have the same cooler except paired with an i7 6700K @ 4.6GHz @ 1.325V.  At idle with the 4.6 GHz overclock I run around 27-32 celsius, and this is with the high performance power plan selected in windows so it runs it at the max overclock and voltage I have set in bios. The max temps I see in Battlefield 1, is around mid to high 70s, sometimes reaching 79-80 for split seconds on some of the more intense maps ( 70-90% usage). I would have expected yours to run a fair bit cooler due to the lack of hyper threading. I'd suggest checking the mount and or thermal paste application, as mine is running at a much higher voltage and has hyper threading to account for, so to me, your temps seem unreasonably high for just a pure quad core with four threads. If I run mine at 4.5 GHz and 1.255 volts, my temps drop from the 70s in Battlefield 1 64 player to around mid 60s with highs at around 70.

Main PC :

CPU = R9 3900X / Motherboard = Asus Crosshair 8 Hero / GPU = EVGA SC Ultra RTX 2060 / RAM = G.Skill 3600 16-19-19-39 ( 32GB / 4x8 ) / Cooling = Dark Rock Pro 4 / Storage = Western Digital Caviar Blue ( X4 ) Crucial 500GB NVME, 500GB 970 EVO/ PSU = Seasonic X-850 Modular / Case = Corsair Carbide 200R

Yeah that’s pretty hot. You’ll be fine for everyday use though. If you’re ordering an NH-D15 then you should see a significant drop in temps. You might just have a terrible TIM application, as your voltage seems quite low

Are you sure your cooler is properly seated and your thermal paste application is good? I'm getting lower temps than you with my 8700K at 4.5GHz and 1.20V using a Hyper 212

I agree, something is wrong. I think you've got the 212 mounted incorrectly. I've had a 100W + TDP chip up around 1.25 V and didn't see those types of temps when stress testing.

current pc

500B EVGA 8- PLUS BRONZE

GTX 1060 3GB EVGA

I3 8350K

16GB RAM

1TB HDD

240GB SSD

MATREX 55 CASE

6 CORSAIR FANS 120MM

So i was thinking about overclocking my i3 8350k to 5ghz i hit 5ghz with my aio before however that leaked so i got a hyper 212 evo which i can clock my cpu to 4.4ghz at max to get good temps ( 70 to 80c) under full 100% load

so do you guys think it is worth it to buy a Noctua NH-D15 and clock back to 5ghz or should i use that 120$ (CAD CURRENCY) for other upgrades is it worth it to byt that for the extra oc speed?

i dont understand the question, do you currently have a stock cpu cooler, if so is there room for thermal improvement ?

well based on your previous post, that answers that question, but as comments on that post said, for a i3 that does seem a bit hot,

try a new thermal paste and check results, or just wait for your noctua cooler cause that comes with good thermal paste as well,

then you can ensure the application was good too

Im not asking about temps im asking is it worth the 120$ to oc to 5ghz or should i use that money else where in the build as i can still return it

So a 5GHz oc is about a 23% cpu performance improvement. Whether or not that is worth CA$120 depends on how the system is being used.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Thxs for the % that helps alot! Going to go for 5ghz

Would it not be cheaper to get an AIO cooler and static pressure fans? Just because you have a good cooler doesn't mean you will reach 5ghz, intel chips are all luck based from my experience.
