I was messing around with an old laptop I had been given , the screen is broken so I took the whole thing apart so it was just the basics. Hooked up to a hdmi I installed a New operating system onto it . I had it working fine all evening until I decided to try my luck and plug in a different laptop screen I had lying around (realising that it 99% wasn’t going to fit but worth a try) . Rushing around I was trying to plug it into the motherboard and realised it wasn’t going to fit but I was actually trying to plug it into the wrong side of the connector which caused a few tiny sparks , after that I realised that the battery was still connected and was still plugged in on charge ! Sad
Pretty much as soon as the small sparks happened the orange charging light went off.

The laptop will not power on or show any means of life , no lights no fan , no noise what so ever . The charging power supply still works As tried the light is still on the brick.

So annoying . A good little project was going so well until this happened.

Have I totally fried the motherboard?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Rip laptop. At least it was an old laptop that you were just tinkering with, not your daily driver or something.
