how does my planned build look so far?

mxk

I've been going on my shitass build for sometime now and have been putting off upgrading for sometime. I'm only in high school so doing a full build myself is hard on my wallet and im a younger sophomore so no job yet. Long story short I got giddy when my parents said I can plan a new pc for xmas. I've been tweaking the same build for a while and just wanted to see if its good. I realllllllllllllly hope the 1070ti's don't sell out by christmas because I don't want to have to replace a good 1070ti with a meh 2070. I think I've mostly nailed the parts, I'm doing light overclocking and If I get a good chip, heavier. I'll probably buy an AIO in the future with my own cash once I'm working at mcdonalds for better oc's.

***EDIT*** I have a 1tb hdd and power supply already!!

You want more than 250gb of storage if you want to play games. Get a 2tb HDD along with the SSD and install Windows on the SSD and games on the HDD. Other than that its fine.

You can also only get 2 fans since that case comes with 2 unless you want them all to match/

I totally understand where you're coming from on this. I went with this stuff since I want most of it to last a decent amount of time. I took into account the fact that ill be able to upgrade the cpu and gpu

also because I have a 144hz 1ms monitor and an old dell as my second.

One final thing, I would wait until Zen 2 is announced from AMD. It supposedly will have about a 15% increase in IPC and 8% increase in core clocks, making it a valid option for gaming at the high refresh rate.

I did make my post kind of long, but I don't really care about zen 2 in the sense of getting it. I've had my pc since 2013 and have been waiting a very long time. By the time zen 2 comes out itll be around my birthday. I just want to play games man

I was trying to cut down the cost while maintaining almost similar performance at higher resolutions.

OP can go with a 1080 if he want to.

Also, zen 2 is expected to be launched in November. Maybe you can wait for a week or so. The new zen based on 7nm architecture has a boost clock of about 4.5ghz. It'll be a huge step up as compared to it's older counterparts.

hm? the amd event is for their epyc stuff, not zen 2. If its zen two I'll highly consider it but for now I think intel is ideal for me. I would love having zen 2 but if it does end up taking until next year i'll buy at Christmas

Release is still scheduled for early 2019 as of now. There might be a reveal and an early sampling, but no sales.

I would go with whatever's out now if you're building a Christmas PC. Zen 2 will be better, but it's like saying Kaby lake was better than Sky Lake. Sure, by a bit. It's your choice anyways. Early 2019 is after Christmas so that kinda ruins your plans lol.

That's a pretty meh PSU. I would recommend an upgrade if you're building a new PC. You can get a solid PSU for $60-70.

Different people say different things. I personally wouldn't use anything below 3, but I also am not really restricted by money. Tier 4 is fine if that's what you can afford. That said, Corsair's CXM series are great units and relatively inexpensive, I think ~$60 for a 650W. I usually put that PSU in my low to mid tier build suggestions.

I'll look into it and will probably be leaving the seasonic psu in my old piledriver-maxwell architecture(s) build and use it for other things.
