My $100 rig What's yours?

silverjay928

Hey guys just put together this little PC it's a Dell optiplex 380 with Intel core 2 E7500 2.93GHz, 4gb ram, Rx 460 2gb from Gigabyte total cost was $100 USD

The PC was $40 and the GPU was $60 I will be back with an edit if benchmarks and when I change cases. This is only a rig to hold me up in very minimal 1080p or med high 720p games non AAA titles. Not expecting much but we will see

Not a bad rig for $100. Take a look at this post on Dell's forums about CPU compatibility: https://www.dell.com/community/Desktops-General-Read-Only/Dell-optiplex-380-compatible-cpus/td-p/4777834

Could look into getting something like this: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4RE81B9633&cm_re=LGA775_processor-_-19-115-130-_-Product when you save up more money.

The RX 460 is a pretty good 1080p card so if you can get a quad core CPU loaded in that thing you'll have a good machine at a really low cost. Nice find my man.

I like it.  Really showing the power of not buying the latest thing :D  I remember a thread from a few years ago where someone wanted an impossibly cheap brand new PC so we experimented with just how cheap we could get it, everything else be damned, and it was pretty bad.  Like, you would not want to use it ever kind of bad.  And it still cost more than $100

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.
