Saw the name of the uploader and thought 'f**k that', doesn't sound very professional and also couldn't load the video since the internet is deciding to rape my stress levels

Just managed to load it and thought I heard that lol

Yea insulating the CPU isn't going to be a good thing and using a finger is good (I do it) but for christ sake use a plastic bag or something so you don't actually come into direct contact with it

Please tell me that this isn't an educational video lol

it's not nearly as bad as the guy who booted the pc without a cpu cooler, he thought it was safe because he wouldn't do any gaming or editing.. just wanted to see if it worked before he installed the cooler and was baffled when the system shut down... i think it was a 3930k or something like that.

The message I had to leave them.

Please never build a pc again. It was painful to watch and to think your viewers may try to emulate you makes me very nervous. Next time you plan on showing a build please have a competent person do the work. I'm sure there are many other hardware channels, such as Linus Tech Tips or JayzTwoCents that would be more than happy to show you the correct way.

Nothing to see here - move along.

How badly would that much paste affect temperatures? I haven't applied paste to my desktop CPU since I just used the stuff that was already on the water block/pump on my kuhler. For laptop/netbook CPUs and GPUs I just sort of make a thin film of paste over the chip. (Laptop CPUs don't have metal heat spreaders on the CPUs like desktop ones do.)

I brought the CPU temperature for my netbook down about 40f by taking it apart, throwing away the thermal pad, and putting a copper shim with paste on both sides between the CPU and heatsink. The heatsink in there is awful. It's just a flat piece of aluminum with a tiny fan on the side. (There aren't even any fins in front of the fan.)

A comment about thermal paste from the video:

"That's a whole lot of thermal paste lol. To get the best performance your suppose to paste a straight line across the CPU then smooth it straight with a credit card of some sort this way the CPU cooler is applied correctly. It can actually overheat if there's way to much applied because the heat wont disperse properly to the cooler. Also its wise to not touch it directly with your fingers being that stuff is made of 99% Silver. Its so fine that it can enter the pours of your skin and get into your blood line and possibly kill you. Either way though dead or alive its a nice ass system man. Thanks for sharing"

Wow. That video hurt, and the comments just as much
