I think you need to re-install that driver. not the display adapter driver

Hi everyone!

After watching the linus video on upgrading your laptop display I wanted to upgrade mine to a higher resolution one since my laptop only had that 1366x768 resolution. So I watched some tutorials and turns out on my Lenovo Ideapad 310 was easy to do . So I upgraded to a 1080p monitor. I dual boot using ubuntu and windows 10 and in ubuntu everything runs perfectly BUT on windows 10 the screen just turns up on a reduced side and I cant change the resolution ( it maxes out at 1366x768). I updated my graphics driver(integrated on i7 6500u) and still no change at all. How can I change the resolution to 1080p in windows 10? I read one comment on a youtube video on this laptop something about replacing the drivers but I dont know if that would work.

EDIT: it has a dead pixel, does any one has any experience with dead pixels? do they really fix on their on with time? and does it expand creating more dead pixels?

Sometimes (usually not) they correct themselves with usage of the display although I would recommend using a screen fixer software tool to get it fixed. It will not expand and cause more dead pixels directly. Is the pixel stuck in a certain color or is it dead (note that completely dead pixels can not usually be recovered easily with software and likely needs hardware level repair

Hope this information post was helpful  ?,

Ok How do I do that? without getting stuck with a no signal display

i think that drivers reinstall themselves when you restart. not 100% sure about that though. i suggest do a full system backup.

basically: backup, uninstall monitor driver, restart system.

actually, try finding a driver for the new monitor online. then download it. then right click the driver in device management, select update driver, and select automatically search. if that doesn't work, select update, but this time choose manual installation and pick the location of the downloaded driver.

I tried the automatic search and install and didnt do anything. So if I uninstall it and it doesnt work the computer wont be left without video signal?

Now that Im playing that video, when the screen is black the pixel seems to be white/greenish and when the white stripe comes across it the pixel seems to be black. That means its a stuck pixel or a dead one?

so you got the new resolution working, but there is a dead/stuck pixel? you could try the pressure method, or the rgb flashing method. idk if they work or not...
