Should I buy a RX 580 or...

so I should buy a new CPU and motherboard? Is ryzen a better budget option.

Ryzen offers much better price/performance than Intel in basically everything, Intel just has better high end performance for high refresh rate or CPU dependent games. In the short term it'll cost a good bit more than just plopping an i5 in your current mobo, but the 6th/7th gen i5s are a terrible value unless you get them used or for a good discount. Another advantage of Ryzen is that AMD promised support for the AM4 platform until 2020, so you can get a good mobo and then a basic R5 (usually 6c/12t, the 1400 and 1500X are cheaper and 4c/8t), or R3 (4c/4t, budget options) now, then upgrade to a newer Ryzen CPU when they bring out their 7nm chips either later this year or next year. And if not, the current one's prices should come down a bit, same as they did with Threadripper when the 2nd gen dropped.

If you can't afford a decent Ryzen CPU and mobo though, just get a used i5 for your socket. Used CPUs are usually fine, kinda hard to break them and if you buy off eBay and make sure the seller explicitly states it's working, both eBay and PayPal (always pay with them on eBay) will have your back if it is broken. I've got a bunch of 2011 or so Xeons of eBay and they're bueno.

Should I buy an Rx 580 8gb GPU or should I keep the 1050 2gb GPU, that I already have, and just buy a core i5 7600k (I currently have a g4400). If you think I should buy a new GPU then let me know if there is a better GPU for a better price.

Hmmmm... I wouldn't advise buying a new i5 unless it's the latest 6 core ones, buy used or spend a bit more and get a Ryzen 5 or even 3 and a basic B350 mobo. But an RX 580 would be pretty badly bottlenecked by a dual core.

A G4400 will bottleneck anything north of a 1050. Definitely upgrade your CPU first. But try getting a 8th- gen or a ryzen.

Ok, looks like an i5 would be the best bet then. Thanks for the help.
