Help with Internet connection

Izzdy
Go to solution Solved by Izzdy,

I did some digging. There is another website suggest to to untick the jumpstart thingy. Andddddddd somehow I got my connection back for now.

Thank you for your kind responses.?

Last couple of weeks I always let my pc sleep instead of shutting down. However, the day before yesterday I did shut down my computer and last night I booted up my pc suddenly there is no internet connection. There are no problem with the internet connection for last couple of months and I did test the internet connection with my other devices. Everything did have internet connection except for my pc.

I already have the latest drivers for my pc but the troubleshooter said that the drivers is the problem. Afterwards, I did try using previous drivers and nothing seems to be fixing the problem. I did try changing other ethernet cable and going to wifi with an usb adapter, anddddd nothing works still no connection. My pc detected everything (ethernet connection, wifi adapter A, wifi adapter B, wifi adapter C,.....)

Is there a possibility that my motherboard has gone bad?

Please Help.

Thank you in advanced.

Easiest way for me is through the command prompt. Start Menu > Type "CMD" > Hit Enter > Black box with grey/white text pops up. Type "ipconfig /all".

What you WANT to see:

What you DON'T want to see:

If you get a 3rd result let us know it might give us a clue.

That depends on what shows up. We can assume the issue is software. As for IP specifically it's possible a simple ipconfig /renew might fix it but a restart of the computer should do the same thing and if that didn't help well...things are gonna get more complicated.

I did restart my pc a bunch of times when trying all kinds of drivers revision. I already put a new motherboard in online shopping cart, just in case. I will try checking the ip later.

This problems seems very known to me.

A while a go a few devices in my home lost internet after reboot. The funny thing was. When i checked with ipconfig the IP address showing up was 172 something. When my local network uses 192. I changed the IP address to a static one and it was fixed.

This could be the same issue you are facing, however i can't say for sure. But if it is the fix is quite simple and worth knowing :)

Apologise, i'm not trying to confuse you. I will be able to explain if you post the results of what Windows7ge asked you to check. Without it i'm afraid i'll only cause more confusion :)

Check the device drivers for your network card are working (compmgmt.msc from the commandline, then device manager from the list on the left had side, then "Network adapters" on the RHS).

If it's seen, and working (i.e. no little warning triangle) then check your interface is enabled in Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Network and Sharing Centre >> Change adapater settings).

If I was was to reboot windows and see that the interface drivers had been deleted by a windows update, I would be so unsurprised I even have the manufacturers driver package stashed on the HD.

I think he result from you ipconfig /all is misleading for some reason.

Try running it in a console with admin permissions, if the interface shows up, try the /renew again.

Alternatively, hit the properties button in the status window, make sure that the check box next to the "IPV4" is checked, double click the "IPV4" entry and post the resulting dialog box here.

It might be possible to do a quick test of something here. However i cannot garantee that it will work. But if it does not you can always remove the changes.

Go back to IPv4 configuration and add in:

Address: an IP that is available from the DHCP range

Netmask: Is probably/most likely 255.255.255.0

And gateway: 192.168.0.1 (This will vary from whatever your router is connected at.)

If you need DNS servers you can google: What is the DNS servers for <MyISP> (<Add your isp>).

While the chances this will solve your problem is quite low, it will give good information.
