Hi

So I was rocking an i5 6500 paired with a H170 from MSI, PRO-VDH to be more exact and on top of that I had 2 RAM dimms, each 8 gb at a 2133 speed, don't know the CLs but I think it's not important. The i5 was being cooled with a Noctua NH-U9S.

My current plan is the following:

I've already sold my i5 6500 and the 16gb of ram. Trying to sell the board wich is being hard, the cooler and a crappy case. When I built the PC I was only 18 so keep in mind that was with my father's money, had a liiiiiiiimited budget to do it. I've been working and I want to reward myself with what i'd like to call it BananaVizela Beast V2 (Sounds mean) ?

Oh, and I'm from Portugal. Yes CR7. ?

So, to be clear here's the following:

I'll be left with a

GPU:Gygabite GTX 1070 G1 Gaming

PSU: XFX XT 600W 80+ Bronze

Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 500GB & WD Black 1TB

Here's what I need:

CPU, MoBo, RAM, Cooler & Case

And here's what I have in mind

CPUi9 9900K

MoBo: Asus ROG Maximus XI Hero Z390 (Wi-Fi) Reason: It's just 15€ more for the antena itself even though I have gigabit internet and I always connect my pc via ethernet

RAM: G.Skill Kit 16GB (2 X 8GB) DDR4 3600MHz Trident Z RGB CL17

Cooler: NZXT Kraken X72

Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X DRGB

Extra

Corsair LL120 Node Pro High Performance PWM RGB 120mm (Pack 3)

Corsair LL140 High Performance PWM RGB 140mm (Single)

There's 2 websites in portugal that you guys can acess to check the prices etc, i'll link them right on.

https://www.pcdiga.com/

https://www.globaldata.pt/

In order to help, it's better for you guys to translate it to English language via Chrome I think.

There's also a screenshot of the parts that I've ordered but I didn't paid yet so I can change my mind! The MoBo VRM "confusion" is scaring me a little bit and I don't want to spend money the wrong way.. Please advise me ?

My plan was the following:

Get those 3 shiny ll120s into that X72 cooler, place it on the top of the shiny Evolv X case, and since the case does come with 2x 140mm fans at the front and 1x 140mm at the back to exaust air, I'd just replace the exaust fan for the ll140, get those 3 140mm from phanteks in the front and have a cool build. So that's my plan, what do you guys think about it ? Any suggestion ? Recomendations ?

Also the plan is to skip this RTX gen and wait for the next one, my main goal is to build "half" of the pc now and "half" in like a year or two years.

I do honestly think that my PSU is enough for now, I think that only when I upgrade my GPU is that when i'll also be upgrading the PSU. Tell me what do you guys think about that.

Also, I'm not building it, I'm paying like a 20€ fee in order for the store to build the pc. I've talked to them and i've already disassembled all the components that I had on the old tower, and I'm just waiting for the i9 to be available. And the Evolv X. And the MoBo... Portugal is terrible ?

So any suggestions would be preciated, and please forgive any grammar mistake that I might or might not be given ? Thanks a lot !

The LL120's don't provide the best performance, the HD120/140s do but they obviously don't have that lighting config so I would check what the optimal static pressure and CFM- for a 360mm nzxt rad is. You could also do a push/pull config on the fans and get the ll120s then some uglier ones or whatever you want. Use an online PSU calculator to check what this next upgrade will run at on wattage and if your psu could support it. If you plan on upgrading the gpu later the 9900k should be fine but keep in mind the Ryzen 3800x coming out in January (Rumored to be 16C/32T but these are rumors)

Current Gaming build:

Specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3800x
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i Platinum
Motherboard: ASRock X570 Taichi

Memory: 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3000mhz 15-17-17-35

Graphics Card: Geforce RTX 2080

Graphics Card Cooler: EVGA XC Ultra Gaming
Storage: 500GB Samsung 860 EVO, 1TB Western Digital Blue
PSU: Thermaltake Smartpower 750W
Case: Corsair 460x Black
Case Cooling: A mix and match of fans ?
Peripherals:

Monitor: HP 27ea
Keyboard: Corsair K70 RGB MK.2 SE
Mouse: Corsair Glaive Black
Headphones: Corsair HS60
Microphone: Blue Snowball Black Edition

"Gaming" Laptop: Apple MacBook Pro Mid-2012 with Nvidia Geforce Now

The 9900k is pretty overpriced for a gaming CPU. You would get better gaming performance per dollar with an i7 8700/k, i7 9700k or Ryzen 2700/x.

If you're going with a high end CPU like a i9 9900k you should replace your PSU with a better quality unit.

You should probably just replace it anyway. If you bought that XFX XT unit when you built your previous 6th gen system it's probably already out of warranty.

Probably not the greatest plan. 9th gen is just a refresh on 8th gen which is still stuck on the same node as 6th gen (14nm). You'd be better off waiting for either Zen2 or next gen Intel (10nm??) if your idea is to build in a year or two. If you want to build now then as mentioned earlier maybe better off with the 9700k or Ryzen 2700/x.

PS. I'd also recommend using PCPartPicker https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ to help organise a list of your planned parts and check pricing.

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

Prices are very different from States to Portugal.. There's no Portugal selection in there :/
