Well I had it fully charged this morning and I only woke up 5 hours ago and it's already down to 6% and I've been using it quite a bit but only having one app open at once and I have clean master and battery ddoctor installed, why does the battery in the HTC one such so bad it can only get through like 1/4 a day or is it because of playing games that drain the battery down?

I think HTC Sense is quite heavy on battery. I find that my battery will last me around 2 days of use when listening to music and using it for internet, texts and such, but no games or videos. I would imagine that playing games would kill the battery as mine when down insanely fast when I spend about 30 minutes filming.

There are custom ROMs that increase the battery life, it might be worth taking a look at installing one of those.

EDIT: Also what Windspeed said. Check for bluetooth, 3G GPS etc. They will drain your battery pretty bad.

Playing games draws the battery down very fast...

The HTC one's battery is average at best. You should not be playing games on it if you want it to last. If you are okay with rooting and installing roms then I recommend Android Revolution HD. It is a tweaked sense 5 rom that adds at least 1 hour of battery life from my experience.

I have one and I had it once where it was always warm and the battery was draining super fast. I put cyanogenmod on it and it's fixed :). Maybe try restoring your phone to factory setting or whatever that's called

I just bought it and it's warm and draining really fast so Idk if restoring to factory settings would help it when I just bought the thing yesterday

Ok this is starting to iritate the fuck out of me I have been browsing the forum for maybe 20 minutes and my battery has gone down from low 60s to 54, and I have no recent apps open,, and I have my brightness on low, and just as typing this it went from 54 to 53

Edit: just over a half hour later it's down another ten percent to 44 and all I've done us download one app, have it locked for half the time and browse the Internet the rest of the time, is this normal?

That's mediocre performance even for the stock ROM.

I use about 75% brightness at all times (never trust auto brightness), and on my rooted ROM, which has Sense UI BTW, I get fantastic battery life and rarely dip below 40% charge at the end of the day. Look at your battery usage to see what's draining your power. I don't have GPS on, but my Wi-Fi is usually on and has auto-sync enabled. I don't use LTE/4G often (this is a killer on battery) and don't play games. Playing games will quickly sap juice from any device.

I would recommend a custom ROM immediately. Check XDA developers for the most recommended battery friendly ROM.

is there any risk to getting a custom ROM

I think that the risks of rooting an unlocked bootloader are pretty small. There are a few phones that are so locked down that I wouldn't recommend it, but for HTC in general, it's pretty safe.

There are a few very good how to videos on Youtube, with exact steps on how to do it.
