Is this SSD still worth it?!?

So my pc doesn't take too long booting from a hdd but it takes forever to actually open/launch applications...

I only have $38 which is enough for the kingston a400 120gb ssd but my question is whether its still worth it in 2018(ill only be using it for OS and my IMPORTANT apps).

(i'd rather not have to wait to save up and i can only get it from stores near me)

BTW 120gb is enough for my usecase but is it still fast and all that etc.

THX

As someone running one of their MUCH slower 240GB V300 drives, I say go for it!

Even my drive that's only about 60% as fast is god-tier compared to HDD storage for a boot disk.

120GB SSD storage is great for expand-ability in the future if you've got the HDD storage to go along with it.

Have a backup of your C drive to your HDD regularly, once you feel the need for more than 120GB and/or can afford another $35 drive, create a raid.0 array and restore your backup to it. Each time you run out of solid storage, add another 120GB drive, increasing both space AND speed ++ friendly on your wallet.

I've got the same upgrade path planned for my 240GB SSD since I can afford about 50-70$ of storage at a time.

My rig:

CPU: Ryzen 5 3600 3.6Ghz, OC'ed to 4.2Ghz all core @ 1.25v + Corsair H60 120mm AIO

RAM: Kingston Fury Beast RGB 32GB (2x16GB) 3600mhz CL16 (1-to-1 Infinity Fabric enabled)

GPU: Gigabyte RTX 2080 Super

*bought for $200 CAD off a friend who needed an RTX 3080, price was my reward.

CASE: InWinn A1 Plus in White with included 600w gold sfx PSU and included custom length cables

DISPLAY: 3x 20" AOC 1080p 60hz 4ms ,  32" RCA 1080p/60hz TV mounted above, all on a single arm.

Storage: C : 1TB WD Blue NVMe      D : 2TB Barracuda      E: 240GB Kingston V300 (scratch drive)

NAS: 240GB Kingston A400 + 6x 10+ year old 700GB Barracuda drives in my old FX8350+8GB DDR3 system

Im just wondering, does the a400 have dram?

I just watched a video about dram-less ssd's from techquickie and im just wondering as it doesn't really say on the website.

id say SSDs are always worth it but from experience i would recommend to save a little more and get a 250GB model.

i started with a smaller one thinking it will be enough but keep in mind that windows alone always fills one third of that drive.

yeah i figured but its been getting to me how long it takes when i load into windows.

Booting only takes like 30-35 seconds but background apps and all of that stuff take forever to load.

All that'll be on it will be windows and discord, steam msi afterburner etc.
