Hello, I recently purchased a Acer predator xb271hu G sync IPS 165hz

I controlled with this test if I had any dead pixels : PIXELTEST I did not have a single dead pixel on any color.

How likely is it that some of my pixels might "die". I mean how does it work? Can I somehow prevent it?

I clean my monitor with the following product once or twice a week, mostly because of dust.
MONITOR CLEANING PRODUCT

Thank you if you help me!

a pixel is simply a dot that is separated into 3 different colors and in most cases has backlight.

when a pixel doesnt work anymore or is stuck in one color its either a fault in the line that controls the colors of this pixels or if its a full OLED even directly an LED that dies.

you can not prevent this but overall i wouldnt recommend cleaning the monitor so often.

Dead pixels can be caused by literally just smacking the monitor, but most of the time I believe that dead pixels are just caused by malfunctions that are beyond your control. ?

*Okay, I have 2 years warranty and if I see dead pixels within that time I will return this monitor to them.

Lol basicly if smacking the monitor causes death of pixels I could basicly smack the shit out of it and then return it for "malfunctions" :D ? Smack gently so no one can know ( No I would never do this, I am just joking)

If you dont notice any dead pixels within the 1st couple months of use, its unlikely any will up and die after that point for the rest of its expected use life.

As for cleaning, safest way is to use a slightly damp microfibre cloth. No special products.

But for how long will this monitor work then? is it likely to last 5 years and work just as good as it did when I first bought it?

The warranty card included in the box for your monitor details the number of dead pixels that the manufacturer deems 'acceptable' for your monitor. If the number of dead pixels your monitor has exceeds the limit for what is considered acceptable for your monitor, you can return it under warranty.

That's a dusty ass room you have if you have to clean it every three days (not judging, just noticing).

Yep, never used any special products. Also heard this from my uni's IT department. Damp cloth and maybe some mild detergent worked just as well in their opinion.

I have an extremely dusty room, any ideas on how to get rid of the dust? Should I get one of these perhaps: https://www.netonnet.se/art/hem-hushall/inomhusklimat/luftrenare/coway-ap-1008ch/1003434.9401/

IMO the best way to stop dust is to reduce the sources of dust.

So if you have a dedicated media room for PC gaming and such, Dont have a carpet, or if you have to have one , a very very short pile hardwearing carpet.

Pillows, and other fabrics, keep them out. use leather or fax leather seats. Use blinds instead of curtains. Keep the door shut at all times.

Then if you really want to go the extra mile, then yea get a air purifier. FYI good air purifies, ones worth getting, are gunna cost like $200.

Purifier is good, also good if you bring ladies hehe.

I don't have a carpet it's annoying when I move around with my chair.

My bed is like up above, don't know how to explain it. But like my desk is under my bed.

Hmm, yeah the curtains attract dust like dead meat attracts flies. A black roller you mean right ?

I undertsand what you mean about the bed.

Beds can produce ALOT of dust in the room they are in. More so they kick up alot of settled dust whenever you get in it. So best thing to reduce dust there is to simply replace the bed sheets more often than you normaly would.

By 'blinds' I mean like 'Venetian blinds'.
