8700k price. WTH

Why on earth has the price increased by £100 in last week?! It should be going down with intel 9 gen rumoured in 3 and a bit days.  wtffff

I bet 8th will go down a bit but still much higher than msrp and 9th gen would inflate much more

the PC market have gone crazy in price from excuse of supply demand, see ram, gpu, ssd in past years and still havent been fully settled

why not amd?

Just spoke on discord with some people.

they say the reason is that intel is switching to TSMC, so it should be back down soon.

case solved. Amd avoided (phew...)

A lot of hate for AMD here, rofl. Btw,

Intel now changes their strategy so the new i9 is equivalent to current i7

So they removed Hyperthreading from I7 9700k and make i9 9900k compatible with current platform Z370 and will directly compete with Ryzen 2700K.

Wise or wrong move ? let's wait and see.

I KNOW RIGHT. EVEN IN MY COUNTRY!!! I wanted to buy the i5 8400 but now it costs more than the 8600k.. And don't get me started on the 8700k.

I am tired of the market. Everything costs 40% more than it used to 4 years ago. The prices are going up but the salaries stay the same

Afaik they only switch to TSMC for their chipsets and go back to 22nm due to production issues. We don't really know if Intel raised prices prior to their 9th gen introduction (so that the i9 doesn't look as terribly expensive as it does now at ~ $500+) or if this is related with Intel's general production issues and Intel just can't meet demand.

Still: AMD, AMD, AMD, AMD. Just to bother a die hard, irrational Intel fanboy who just ignores the fact that Ryzen is price/performance wise a no brainer right now. Sure, IPC is a little bit better on Intel's side but you'll have to pay for it.

I disagree, in my opinion I’ve always seen i7 as ‘top of the range for standard users’ cpu’s, removing hyperthreading in my opinion does not reduce an i7 down to a i5 as it still has a much higher clock speed.

The point is that there's no need to remove hyperthreading on the i7 or mess up the lineup more, Ryzen manages to do fine with everything R5 and above having SMT.

it's a just a mentality of value vs performance, i don't think most people consider that price sorta goes exponential on the top end, or intel users like to brag about it after paying more.

Everyone has their own opinion and it's really hard not to push it on others sometimes, like me for example, I get triggered when some1 recommends a 8400 over a 2600x, or a 2700x over a 8700k for a main gaming rig with a 2080 ti (both of these cases are ridiculous to me and they happen often), personally there's no way i can go amd with my main gaming rig.

That said, both intel and AMD have their place and you are just seeing extreme opinions, same thing happens for gpus, human nature.
