my friend write this from my user

i have gtx 1080 ti + i5 7400

and im getting only 20-40% usage on card on games !!!! (cpu is 100% on all cores )

i'v tried to downlod msi afterburner and stress test gpu only and he is working of full power 1900mhz

i know the cpu shuld bottleneck, but not that much !! i see people with 7400+ 1060 or 1070 with more fps then me

what can be the problem

the gpu drivers are fully downloded, and everything shuld be working just fine

Im thinking Virus if its not the storage.  When did this start occurring?  If recently can you do a quick restore of a previous date prior to when this started?  Run an antivirus (malwarebytes?)

Anytime I have had CPU utilization at 100% for no reason it was either due to a failing HDD, or virus.

I would absolutely try there first.  Id even go as far to try a fresh reinstall - you will know right away then.

The 7400 even bottlenecks a gtx 970 in many titles, that's the combo my brother uses. Can you find out what games the i5 holds the 1080 ti back in?

Also, this is a classic case of waaaay overspending on a graphics card vs the CPU. an i7 7700 or 6700 would probably clear that right up.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

i know, i suppost to bottlenec

but 20-30% use of gpu and 100 of cpu its weird

i saw people with gtx 106-1070 getting more fps

Did I miss where he said stuttering?  I thought it was just low FPS and maxed out 7400.

Either way, you are probably right and this is a bottlenecked GPU, but things should still be playable, just not 150FPS  playable...

My bro's PC has mad stuttering when his 7400 is maxed, I just expect a similar behavior here, probably also combined with low FPS though.

yeah the 7400 is like a super budget cpu. basically maxes out at like 970/1060, so it's not fit for 1080 ti. Hopefully someone who can afford a 1080 ti can also save up for a good cpu.

I ask question that may be strange, but do you set anything in that games or just run them at deafult settings?

Do you try to run Ultra/Epic or at least High in your monitor native resolution?

Try, for example, lowering shadows settings in games and set rest settings on ultra.

i5 7400 may bottleneck that powerful GPU but not that much and not in all games! It's still pretty good gaming procesor!

Also - force vertical sync in nvidia control panel and see what happen. Then try to set 60fps in game and see then.

It's just for tests.

And for all who says that i5 is budget cpu, not for games etc. No, it's not true. I5 is great processor for games and not everyone needs buying i7 for everthing. Celerons, Pentiums, i3, i5, i7 - this is 5 main processors. I5 is almost the best of them, so it's not for solitaire and internet only.

Recommended is i7 3770

This is passmark for that i7: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7-3770+%40+3.40GHz&id=896

And this is passmark for i5 7400: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-7400+%40+3.00GHz&id=2929

Not that big difference, right? 20% slower than i7 3rd gen.

The Witcher comparsion i7/i5/i3 with 1080Ti: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7uKg2LFRPk

Look at GPU/CPU percentage of use. And what, still want to say that i7 is required and gives much improvement?

I think what they are saying is that, generationally that is a bad i5.  The previous generation i5 6600 10% faster.  My Ivy Bridge i5 is 6% slower from 2012, his CPU was released in 2017.  i5 4670 from 1 generation above my i5 is FASTER than his i5 7400.  I am very surprised by this as I don't follow Intel, seems like a blunder.

Can that i5 work?  Yes.  People tell me today that my FX 8350 is bad, and it has its limitations.  Does not mean it doesn't work.  It does mean that it isn't very good for gaming though, and its not.  Unless I keep telling myself it is...of course! ;)

BF1 should give you around 100FPS.

What do you see when you play?

im getting half of that, if to be exctue im getting like 30-40% lower fps , then all those game in the video with the exacat same specs !!

I5 is almost the best of them, so it's not for solitaire and internet only.

https://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/requirements/the-witcher-3-wild-hunt/12446

Recommended is i7 3770

This is passmark for that i7: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i7-3770+%40+3.40GHz&id=896

And this is passmark for i5 7400: https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core+i5-7400+%40+3.00GHz&id=2929

Not that big difference, right? 20% slower than i7 3rd gen.

The Witcher comparsion i7/i5/i3 with 1080Ti: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7uKg2LFRPk

Look at GPU/CPU percentage of use. And what, still want to say that i7 is required and gives much improvement?

i tried to set all manualy to ultra and nothing changed :(

i want to thank everone for the super fast response, realy thank you all , and im sry for my poor english, im trying my best

can it be that my mobo is not fit for this card? iv been told by friend of mine that the h110 that i have bottlenect the 1080 ti

can that happen ?

and  if its a virus , if i just delete everything include windwos from the drive, the virus cant servive that right ?

i mean full restore to the hdd

yeah the 7400 is like a super budget cpu. basically maxes out at like 970/1060, so it's not fit for 1080 ti. Hopefully someone who can afford a 1080 ti can also save up for a good cpu.

i did very stupid, instad of 1080 + 8700 cpu

i choosed 1080 ti  + 7400, i paid tension only to gpu, and i didnt know thatt bottleneck is a real deal , that so shamee
